Hey All,

I was wondering if anyone could pass along some good advice. I have been wanting to fly for Delta for as long as I can remember but unfortunatley for me, I have no ties with Delta so I am going at it on my own. Is there any chance for someone without internal recommendations? Just for info sake, I have approximatley 5300 hours and am currently a Captain on the MD-80. Any chance at getting a call? Any advice?
Thanks

In 1999/2000 I had ~~ 7 recommendations at both AA and UA w/ ZERO at Delta.
I got hired at DAL, though there was a hiring coordinator who personally took my calls and allowed me to convince him to call me in...

So, while not sure about now, in the past it was possible to get hired w/o any internal contacts.

Husker1, I'm that "great guy" from Allegiant. PM me and I'll give you the scoop.

P.S. Half of the class are some great ASA folks, it must be something in the water....

The ASA pilot group has been very supportive of DAL's furloughed pilots and we are more than happy to see so many of them in our new hire classes.

sorry to jump into your thread but I was wondering the same. I work for Skywest though, not ASA. How do I go about getting my name in the hat for an interview? Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks

Still holding that grudge, huh? Real mature.

What grudge? You'll have to elaborate. I simply stated that since the ASA pilots welcomed our furloughed pilots in their time of need, I'm happy to see a large part of our new hire classes filled with ASA pilots. Do you have a problem with that?

That is great!

Does anyone know if Delta counts PIC time as the soul manipulator of the controls? Also, what kind of mins are guys being hired with?? I'd be honored to join the team, espeically with all international flying coming up. I thikn Gen Lee said something about Par being 10 777ers and more 767's on order for the next 5 years. Time to push it up guys and get in there.

There is no PIC requirment, but it would be better for you if you had some. If you don't, you better know someone high up. Yes, we will be growing (a lot will come out shortly, after we exit BK). Recent newhires have bid off the MD88 (what they were initially assigned) and got NYC 767ER INTL, and some got ATL 767 domestic. (I believe they still had to do the MD88 training, though) Regardless, things are moving, and we are getting 15 Ex TWA/AA 757ERs at 2 per month starting in July, 10 737-700s, and 5 more 777s within the next three years (at minimum), and rumors are abound that we will get some 787s in late 2008 via a lessor. Expect more orders soon.

Bye Bye--General Lee

Not to Hi-jack Huskers thread, but I have a couple Delta questions also. I am in the process of filling out the application on AirlineApps, and have reached the part where I need to enter my flight experience. I stopped logging night and instrument a long time ago. I could log everything else accurately, but not those two times. Anybody else find themselves in this situation, and if so, what did you do?

I'm a RJ captain, so I do have the experience (Night and Instrument) I just can't prove it with my logbook except up to ATP requirements.

Also, how long until somebody could get awarded SLC. I'm from the area and would like to stick around here. Just curious how long I would have to commute if I were to get on with Delta.

Are there any required mins for night and instrument time? I don't think so. I would not worry about it though. Fill what you have and going forward start keeping track again. As you get more time, update your app.

As far as SLC, I would guess new hires will be able to hold it inside a year certainly, probably faster than that.

I know people have talked about time and having too much? But, does anyone know what kinds of times (min) people are getting interviews with?
