Just wondering if anyone in the May 8th class has any information on the class size, domicles and aircraft breakdown. Thank you

I'm also in the May 8 class. I've been hearing nothing but 737 classes throughout the summer but the previous info is probably more accurate than my speculation. Having really wanted the 757 until about a month ago when I found out from my friends how good their 737 schedules were, it would be quite ironic if I ended up getting the 757 anyway. Is anyone in this class younger than 31? :)

The class size is pretty nice. You won't have to sit right next to another guy if you don't won't to. I would say it is a 20X30 room with 12 foot ceilings. They keep it cold all Summer long so be prepared to get sick when you go in and out of the training center trading Houston's humid 90 degree temperatures for the training center's 66 degree dry air.

Enjoy

Atp,

Any chance you did the sim prep on 3/21? I know I was the youngest out of the 4 of us so I'm curious how the rest of the class breakdown will be. It will be so much easier to just have all EWR 737 and not have a choice. More days off and $$$ sooner vs. better layovers and more $$$ later. Oh well, as long as it says Continental on the side without the word Express directly behind it I'll be happy as a clam to fly whatever I get.

So Dewey-- Have the days reallllly started dragging on until class yet?

Yup. 25 more to go but who's counting? Just 3 more trips at Express and then off to the big time (and the poorhouse!). Thanks again for all of the help.

Congrats on getting hired everyone! I don't mean to jack this thread, but I have a few questions for you folks that just got hired. Do you have 2 year or 4 year degrees? How much turbine PIC did you all have when you got called for the interview? How long did you all have your applications in for before you got the interview? Thanks!

Yes Dewey, I was one of the guys you did sim prep with. I was the last to go. To answer the other persons questions, retired military currently a checkairman at a regional, over ten thousand hours, over eight PIC turbine with a four year degree. Short stack for about 120 days, application on file for year and a half. Do the sim prep with CPT and the interview prep with Emerald Coast Consulting. Good Luck

I don't know who told u that the 737 schedules are better. They are not definetley commutable. I'm in the 50% range on the 737 have to commute in day before and commute home day after. Been like that for a year.

737 is commutable in IAH. I commute DEN (which is its own nightmare) and have needed only 2 hotels last month and 2 this month. And the hotels are not so bad. Out the door 49 bucks. I know some out the door that are 42 bucks but kinda below my low standards. EWR is NOT commutable.

Waveoff,

I had roughly 6100 TT and 1900 Turbine PIC, 5000 jet time when I interviewed with a 4 year degree. Except for the one or two interns/legacies per class, I think most new hires are very well qualified. My app was in for 15 months, and it was 2 days from when I was told I was on "the list" until I got the call, much sooner than I was told to expect.

Good for you. You stuck with it and achieved your goal. Remember to keep that same focus while in training.

Congrats and welcome aboard!

Commutable schedules are on the 756. Late starts, early arrivals....

the Atlantic stuff is where it's at.

Anyone happen to know what the breakdown is for the April 24th class? Also where are they putting up the newhires these days?

All the newhires over the last month or two have been going to EWR. Most to the 737, some to the 757/767. I don't have any info on future classes though. Good luck...

In my class flight times, experience, college or no college, and age/sex/race where all over the board. They were as young as 24 and no turbine PIC, to as old as 45 without a college degree. Out of 16, five were over 40, five had no jet time (only turboprop time), and two were women. Four from Express Jet, four from the military, one corporate, the rest from a mix of the other regionals. All did meet the posted mins or better.

There was only one common factor. ALL had good internal recommendations. Like it or not, it's the reality. BTW, none were "family".
