Just wondering if anyone has been interviewing lately, or if they just hired enough to compensate for 2 MSP CRJs coming. So far they've hired about 30-32ish; all but ~2 are Saab FO positions.

If so what are they telling you at the interviews?

Is the recalling complete? If so what's the total pilots on the seniority list?

According to aviationinterviews.com they are definitely hiring. I guess Mesaba is still telling people 400+ pilots in 2007 alone. I guess they are also telling people 18-24 month upgrade according to one poster.

Yes, still hiring... and will be for quite some time (IF things go as planned).

Recalls have gone out and all furloughs will be in class in a week or less. We're done to 601 pilots now.

They are giving new hires the option to take the SAAB now or wait for the CR9 (I've heard they've been saying a Juneish class for the CR9)

Fresh from airlinepilotcentral.com... hiring into the CR9 going to happen all year?

I know some people disagree, but I still think a person would be INSANE to skip seniority just to get the CRJ900. The pay is the same, and the Saab flying I'm sure is WAY more interesting. I couldn't imaging just getting vectors to join the localizer at every single airport. How boring

The most enjoyable flying I've done at Mesaba is flying into small uncontrolled Saab airports... Beautiful VFR days, cleared for a visual 25nm out, shut off the autopilot, and hand-fly a nice standard traffic pattern.

mesaba's offering interviews all through next month. I don't know how the company is to work for, but I am guessing what could be probably diff from any other regional. Just my .02.

Well, about 330 pilots (senior to me) have left in the last 2.5 years, and most of those probably left in the past 1.5 years. On top of that, over 100 people junior to me chose not to return after being furloughed. That might tell you something.

NWA is slowing the CRJ9 deliveries to one per month at least for a few months. Most newhires will be into the saab because of the high attrition rate.

Vectors to the localizer at every airport? Flying the RJ, I regularly get cleared for the visual 25 out and hand fly it just like any other airplane.

Well not EVERY airport. I'm saying I'd rather fly into Brainerd, Bemidji, Pierre, etc. than class B, C or D airports.

What's your source on that info of the slowed deliveries?

Attrition rate from the top or bottom of the seniority list, or shall I say Captains or fuloughed FO's (the top guys are going no-where)?

The part I like most about the saab....120 degrees in the cockpit in MEM...I think I'd take the crj...

No offense but this is the most retarded thing I've heard...have you seen what the price of oil is trading at??????????????

One per month at least through July or August instead of two a month after May. They did not secure enough sim training slots for the 900. We are also very understaffed for the Saab. Sorry to burst your bubble.

It is funny. After all that has gone on at Mesaba... All of the pilots that have lost their jobs and had their lives completely changed.

Now... A few months later. New Hires, wonder which aircraft they should hold out for. I hope I left the seat warm enough for you, enjoy.

Johnny

FCK XJ management this is their problem. Not ours. This whole training event mess is their fault I hope they choke on it cause im gonna laugh the whole time im in class. Yee HAAA Biatch.

As for those that hold out for the nice shinny jet... You should be drug down the stairs at A19 and shot... Im sure I could find a rampy in MEM to do it for a dime bag!!! Im gonna laugh again when we get two of them and Big Pimp Daddy NW says "Oh sorry guys but your too expensive...Vote us in another industry rapping contract so I can buy my 16 yr old daughter that fake set of lungs she's always wanted."

I see another April 2005 in Mesaba's future. New A/C comming... 2 arrived and 50+ left... April 2007 New A/C comming...WTF Over...

Just out of curiosity, what was Mesaba's history like the day you were hired? Unstable or not. Bad management or not. It's a step forward for folks sitting at 600/50, just like I'm sure it was a step forward for you.

Screw Schedulers

Yes, Jason is still there.

Something to worry about is the fact that he is senior, hasn't changed, and is no longer the worst. Sorry...

The majority of those still here, were hired during two huge growth spurts. Change over from Dash to Avro, which occured directly after another spurt (change over from Metro to Saab). The industry was slightly different then, if you weren't pushing 1500 and 500, you didn't have anything (you met the mins, but wouldn't get hired). We were a respected airline, with high safety stantards, and an great pilot group. Rebulishuttlenaqua was smaller than us (and didn't have any jets), Skywest was a nobody, and Mesa stayed on the west coast. We complained about Management, but didn't realize how much worse it would get. So definately a different landscape.

That being said, if airlines would have hired me a 600/50 my (and most others) apps would have been out then. I don't blame a anyone one bit. But realize if you come here that a lot of our pilots signed on for quick upgrades and shiney jets too, now they have sat in the right seat for almost 8 years and have become somewhat bitter on the whole situation.

Turn in you app, if you get hired great, congratulations and Welcome Onboard. Then check any attitude you may have at the door.

Agreed. It isn’t going to go over too well when someone who has been stuck in the right seat of a Saab for 8 years just upgrades and is now flying with a guy with 600 hrs who’s b*tching about not being in the jet.

Do they still have "Regional Airline of the Year" on the Saabs? That was like 10 years ago.
