"``The A350 today is not the plane we ordered,'' Kerr said,
referring to delays and redesigns since 2005. ``We need to know
what the plane is going to cost and when it will be ready.''
The delays have reached the point that US Airways has the
right under its contract to cancel the earlier order, Kerr said.
``US Airways thinking about Boeing is a reflection of the
softness in the A350 development program,'' Aboulafia said.
``They need to have confidence about when the equipment is going
to be coming, or they're going to have to go with the other
guy.''
US Airways must make a decision on the 787 soon or risk
losing slots in Boeing's production line.
``We have delivery positions they have promised to us for
now,'' Kerr said. ``If we don't make a decision soon, they will
give those to someone else.'' "
Where in the line? At the end?
Bye Bye--General Lee
A few years back, who in their wildest dreams, ever would have thought that the most childish interpilot feud in the industry would be DAL-UsAirways? Funny.
Where in the line? At the end?
Bye Bye--General Lee
Actually they haven't said where, just as delta hasn't said where they'd fit in either. Mgmt did say that had to give Boeing a decision by the end of, either this month or next month, or they would not be able to get the positions Boeing has promised them.
So would it kill ya if US placed the order and got a position in front of Delta? Could be interesting, as, well delta is such a good customer, where are they going to go??? Airbus??? Whereas, I'm sure Boeing would love to steal some orders away from Airbus, hence US....
Thanks dad. You sure are mature. Go smoke your pipe in the easy chair and read by the fire... Who would have thought Parker, a 3 time charged drunk driver, would lead an airline? Really funny.
Bye Bye--General Lee
That makes a lot of sense, not. We are also ordering more 737-700s, and 777s. I guess it would be good for Boeing to pi$$ off Delta right after a large order. It is better to take care of your best customers, hence Delta....
Bye Bye--General Lee
Exactly. DAL mgmt through it's incessant press releases has already tipped its hand. They have indicated that they are desperate. I suppose being $8 Billion in debt will do that. US, on the other hand, is playing BA like a fiddle. BA would walk over the grave of DAL to steal business away from Airbus. Where's DAL going to go find aircraft? Oh yeah, aren't the Chinese making some? General, this is how it's done in the real world of business. If anything, BA should be pissed at DAL for almost putting the company out of business and delaying aircraft orders.actually it does. where is delta going to go. they are a boeing only customer, boeing can do whatever it want's and delta will still come back

Because US Airways made a bid for Delta, some will hold that over their head forever. It was business not personal get over it GENERAL! US Airways has moved on and is no longer interested in your Airline. I believe right now Boeings best customer is Southwest Airlines, considering Southwest has not used the bankruptcy courts to pay their bills. Southwest has been profitable and pays its bills on time. Delta can't make that claim right now. So I don't believe in theory they are Boeings best customer. If I were a banker, and I'm not, and I had two customers-one who pays there bills on time and the other who uses bankruptcy to renegotiate their bills because of poor management, I doubt I'd be bragging the latter being my best customer. Delta is a stand alone carrier and we all know and respect that. General can you move on now!
NEVER! (that topic can fuel my next 5,000 posts!) Anyway, Delta is probably ONE OF Boeing's best customers, and a better one than USAir. I have no idea what part of the production line DL or US would be in for the 787, but I would suspect that we would be able to get a better production number, or sooner completion than USAir would. We'll see I guess.
Bye Bye--General Lee
Just wasn't a good week without bashing US Airways was it?
I didn't get on your 787 parade thread, you STAY OFF OF MINE!
Fact is DAL won the take-over fight with USAIr. Fact is some DAL pilots are worse winners than they are losers. It was business, get over it and yourselves.

It was business, and Parker played the saint from Tempe. (in his eyes and many of his employees) Then, he gets arrested for drunk driving and the record shows it wasn't the first time. Ridiculous.
