If the situation should arise where DAL mainline ends up being able to fly on ASA aircraft at a higher (S3) priority than ASA can fly on mainline (S3C), I hate to imagine what the consequences may be for some DAL people who commute on ASA. Wrong as it may be, and I don't agree with starting a "non-rev" or "jumpseat" war, I see dark clouds at 12 o'clock! There will suddenly be severe weight & balance issues that arise at the last moment on many of ASA's RJs. That is the general talk in the ASA lounges right now. If the benefits have to change, then let it be a "level playing field" at least, ASA S3C on DAL and vice versa.

DAL crewmembers need to push hard for this, I can assure them it will be in everyone's best interests. ASA people will not be treated like dirt much more, they are all fed up with just about everything right now!

Enough, time for some more green beer.

This thread is going to get ugly, I am afraid.....tell your coworkers to stop that "talk". I doubt anyone will get hosed. I cant count the # of times I got bumped off the ATR or RJ jumpseat so I doubt DAL will bump you off your own plane in the back. Do you think you should get on a DAL plane before a DAL mainline guy if you got hired at ASA before he got hired at DAL?
See..its going to get ugly...

Please READ my post more carefully. I said a LEVEL playing field, S3C both ways, but DAL wants their people to be able to fly S3 on us while we are only going to be able to fly S3C on them. Now is that FAIR - I don't think so.

That's a strong rumor. No offense.

Well I dont see why the company would do that unless they are thinking they can guarantee mainline folks getting to work..but there is never a guarantee.
Leveling the playing field isnt that easy either - again the same pass priveleges makes sense - but will bring up issues - DOH, Mainline vs DCI, etc. What priveleges do you have on mainline now?
I havent heard anything about this in any chatroom or DALPA emails.....

ASA has regular DAL employee priorities right now, and we accept that will probably change as a result of the sale to SKYW some time ago. However the reason JA (SKYW boss) didn't sign off earlier was the fact that DAL wanted a "skewed" priority base at the detriment to ASA employees.

First off I agree that it should be a level playing field meaning S3C's going both ways, but before you start an employee war you need to remember that this is managements ultimate decision and neither employee group has input into it. It would be really sad for you to lose your job by coming up with sudden weight and balance issues.

Not on my watch. I will go toe to toe. The jumpseat is not the way.

Should be this way if changes are gonna happen

If DL wants to fly on ASA, its S3C....no way any DL employee should bump an ASA employee on his/her airlines...

It's been awhile since I've been on the farm, but I'm pretty sure the cart goes after the horse. Why not wait until we know for sure what's going to happen before we react. We all know it's a matter of time before our travel benefits change, but there's no reason to start going ballistic when a formal announcement hasn't been made yet.

I agree with you. Everyone should have priority on their own airline. Only fair.

I am sure that DL knows this would be an issue and will not pit everyone against each other. They more than likely will have each employee group travel on S3 priority on their own airline. Lets not worry about it until we have something to talk about.

Not likely.

Usually we go "above and beyond to work the numbers" in order get jumpseaters and even non-revs on our typically weight restricted airplanes. I can only guess that most ASA pilots will "lose" that motivation if y'all get super seniority on ASA. I don't think any jumpseaters or non-revs will make it on our flights from Florida in particular.

Maybe you better call your people and make sure this is taken care of.

No, no jumpseat wars.

ASA guys want to fly for Delta more than they want a weekend with Jessica Simpson. I think they are extra motivated to get someone on the jumpseat who might be able to help throw them a line to a ship that isn't sinking.

I wait until I know if we have a jumpseat request, then look for a kid count, call dispatch, or use any of the other resources available to find another 190 available pounds.

It is hard to say why ASA is so embattled right now. I've never seen such a string of bad news for an airline that is objectively still growing and upgrading.

As usual, he has the gold makes the rules. Delta is the customer and pi$$ing them off isn't going to help anyone. No to say there have not been fights worth fighting, but now with 7 DCI carriers in Atlanta, ASA's position is so weak that frankly, we are not in a position to fight anything. Mainline ALPA's (anti scope, request for proposal) negotiating was the nuclear bomb. We have to make the best of the charred landscape that resulted from the attack from our own union.

Are you serious?!?! Screw the job at Delta; if I had a million dollars I'd do two chicks at the same time! You bet I'd take Simpson over the Delta job.
