Ok, I guess flyjumpseat is right. Only those of us in HDQ get to use it right now. But it has been a feature for us on SWOL for over 6 months now. Wonder what is taking so long to open it up to everyone. I know dispatch will throw me a blanket party for saying this, but call us and we'll give you the answers you need for now.

BLANKET PARTY IN ORDER!!!!

But really, if you need to check loads call dispatch...If we have a few minutes we can hook you up. Some dispatchers arent too up on united so they may need to get someone else. PM me and I can help.

I need real numbers pal, I dont need "if" or not sure how to read these? you guys have it at home in your comfy chair to plan your stratagy, I have to call and hope I get someone nice, and then hope they know what they are doin? NOTTTTTT!

And as far as HDQ employees having it for the past 6 months WTFO!!!!

Did they know this "improvement" to 1 800 UAL LIST was coming and they thought they better look out for themselves without regard for us? where the hell is ours???? I am a commuter, and let me tell you, I will have no problem telling OO where to shove it when I cannot get to work because I couldnt make an informed decision on what route to take to get to work, thats fine with me, the blame is on them.

-Goo (super pissed)

Yes, please, whatever you do, do NOT call dispatch. We only want to help the well-mannered pilots that work here at SKYW.

Not trying to sound like a dick here, but...no one forces you to commute. You made that choice.

I wouldn't blame the SKW dispatch guys for not wanting to help (checking your commute is not their job), yet they offered....and you were a total horse's arse about it.

Dude, you need to quit whining....a little complaining is fine, but when you start attacking people who are trying to help you, and whining on every single internet forum you can get you hands on, you're not going to get anywhere. You chose to commute. You can figure it out. No company is responsible for your decision. We as pilots have the added benefit of being able to sit up front. If you can't make it with all those options, then I'm sure the company will work with you......unless you start whining, bitching, and treating people like you have here.....

Dude go back to the Cargo section. If SKW was taking some of UPS's routes your tune would change. The only reason you don't feel the same way as most around here is because you are led around by your Ball$ which your girlfriend has secured in her purse.

You SKW sheeple

LOL! That's hilarious! I AM THE GIRLFRIEND! Are you calling me a lesbian with testicles???

DORK!

Thanks for trying to help dispatchers. In the goo does not speak for all of us pilots at SKW. You guys have been nothing but good to me.

No problem, If any of you need "real Data" call us here in dispatch. I think inthegoo is confused of the data we have in dispatch. We have real time loads. We have access to the res system, and can even tell you where you stand on the list.

We need more dispatchers like Joe and his good morning weather summaries.

I wish we had time to do that on every release, but working 65 releases a day doesn't always make that possible....WE TRY OUR BEST (at least most of us)

I met the infamous JOE D. in ORD today. And he said, "Good morning!!!!!!! A cold front will be sweeping through the Ohio river valley, In the NorthWest......

Just joking, but I did meet him today at Quiznos......

Joe D. and his infamous morning wx brief. He does that to cut down on the amount of calls he gets every morning. Now, if only he could write in the following things to go with it:

1. You will be swapping aircraft today, maybe even twice, no exceptions.
2. No one found your cell phone you left on the aircraft five weeks ago.
3. You have people paying to fly with you all day. Doesn't matter if there is one or 77, you still get paid them same.

Then Joe D. would never get a phone call again.

Funny

I find it funny you mention "WE TRY OUR BEST" Homie. You might remember:

There once was a dispatcher that put loads and swaps (AND a quick weather brief) on ALL releases, to keep the crew informed about the rest of the day's flights. Well, one day, he was called in and written up for doing it. He was told, Stop doing that above and beyond stuff because "...it makes the rest of the department look bad when they don't do it too" and "we don't want the crews to start 'expecting' it to be on the releases."

That's all I got to say about that.

flyjumpseat expanded on my original thought, touche!

Thats why I said TRY not DO!

Yeah...and at one point the "best" was ACA, and shortly thereafter the "best" was Air Wisconsin.

Thats funny, interesting fact. AWAC reps were in downtown Chicago at a shindig where UAL was awarding AWAC for being their "best regional carrier". The AWAC rep said to the UAL girl "you know you just put all of our flying up for bid today?" Apparently the chick from United felt pretty stupid...as they should....cuz they are.

If you want to attempt to go this route...you can check out SeatCounter.com

Looks like a bunch of good info but to me it is a bunch of colors, letters and numbers. I looked at a Brasilia flight and the numbers were much higher than what united showed for seat availability on united.com. Does anyone know how to decode this?

oh i definately don't doubt that is could be worse. I just get tired of all the Skywest is Great rhetoric, not exactly. If Skywest is the best why are we getting the SHAFT when trying to commute by not being able to check loads. Ill bet you what is happening is that management is just trying to discourage commuting. Wouldnt surprise me if this was the case with all the problems in denver the company had with commuting employees.

People have been commuting here since the first domicile closed. How do you think they checked loads before all this automation came to be? There are ways to check loads if you'd take the time to educate yourself.

There once was a dispatcher who was given a letter for putting jokes in the remarks section of the releases. I believe this is the incident you have forgotten the facts about. There was also once several dispatchers who cut and pasted incorrect swap info from Skynet and contributed to people taking the wrong airplanes. That's why this was discontinued, not for the reasons you claim.

My apologies, Mr. Wood (and the rest of flightinfo world). After double-checking the information, I find that I misspoke. Thank you for pointing out the error.

You are correct, it was the 'humor of the day' on the releases that got the write up.

Although, after further investigation, the statement "...it makes the rest of the department look bad..." and "...we don't want the crews to 'expect' it..." was indeed during an 'annual review' and in reference to loads/swaps/weather that the dispatcher was putting on the releases.

Of course, since it WASN'T written up, you won't find it in any file. That's one that would have been nice to HAVE in a file.

But anyway, continue on with the non-rev stuff.

I do not fly for the airlines but I do fly standby quite a bit using buddy passes. How accurate is the "seats available" information from Orbitz?

Could that be effective in figuring out if seats are available on a given flight? I have no idea but thought it was worth asking.
