Take two....

Could someone with telex 850's please chime on on the following question?

Does the ANR portion of this headset work with a COLD mic aircraft (i.e. SW 737's)

I have done some research on this headset and it seems that if microphone bias is what powering the ANR, then it would only be providing ANR when communicating with ATC (i.e. powering the microphone).

I know a TON of pilots love this headset, I am just not convinced that the headset is working to its full potential in a cold mic aircraft.

Cheers!

I use it in the 737 and it works fine. When you switch from boom mike to the O2 mask is when you loose the power and the ANR part does not work but you can still hear ATC. Other than that it works great! Like it alot. And it is a TSO headset.

Ditto. ANR works all the time unless, as said, you switch to the O2 mask mic.

I have two and have found them to be a bit fragile. I do enjoy that they are light weight and just enough noice canceling. When I have broken my 850's they were repaired quickly by telex. I now have them as back ups to my magnesium Bose X. I think they are indestructable, heavier, and better sound quality.

They also drop when the hand mic is used while wearing the headsets...still work just loses power to the ANR.
