Just heard that LAX is closing for ASA. Can anyone confirm this?

If so, where will the LAX crews go? How about the aircraft? New base? Operate out of Atlanta?

I'm sure this has something to do with the ExpressJet in LAX rumor.

I think there were only a handful of aircraft out there, so I'm sure they'll all be assimilated back into the ATL system. Either that or they'll be transferred to SkyWest.
 
Buddy of mine, new hire, going through systems. He says that they made the announcement for the two guys in class that bid for LAX.
I would have to doubt the accuracy of that then. If you know anything about ASA, you ought to know that the training department is often the last to know anything. It's all part of management's genius plan of keeping everyone on their toes.....That and the fact that they clearly don't have a clue or a plan at all.

True dat, especially in these times. But, I just got off the phone with my buddy. He says that they base is closing on June 1st, and that there was a 'strong possibility' that another base might open up, possibly Cincy. This was announced by some management puke who came in a spoke with the class.
 
All because we won't take the contract they're offering, I'm sure.....Did they say that too?
 
To make these folks move back to the ATL is not going to go over well. From what I understand, the folks that are out there now actually want to be there.

How much money does this cost the company?
 
LAX closed officially in June. LaBreque memo on ourASA. Says a different partner is going to operate out of there for Delta. Congrats Expressjet (hopefully its them!). If it is Expressjet, that'll help out our contract rates a bit. Thanks Expressjet guys for having a great contract, one of the few out there!

Says the new LAX partner will be announced early next week.
 
I called this one, as well as SLC. It was quicker than I thought, though

Today, ASA leaders shared with our Los Angeles-based team members, Delta’s decision to partner with a different regional airline for service out of LAX beginning with the June 2007 schedule. There is no question that this decision is a difficult one to share considering the great job our crews in L.A. have done since opening our LAX domicile just over two months ago.

Although Delta’s new LAX-based partner will not be announced until early next week, it is sure to be a better fit than ASA for Delta’s expansion into Mexico and the west coast of the United States. As usual, our team stepped up to do everything they were asked to do. But despite our best efforts, the move for us to operate out of Los Angeles was logistically inefficient from all other perspectives. Delta ultimately recognized this and concluded that requiring ASA to continue flying from there was not efficient for either airline.

Fortunately, all six LAX-based ASA aircraft will remain within ASA’s fleet and will be transferred for use in the Atlanta operation between May 15 and June 7, 2007. By the time we’re operating our June 2007 schedule, ASA will not operate any flights from LAX, and the crew domicile there will be closed.

The past two years have not been easy for hundreds of ASA people affected by major change at our airline. In that time, we’ve asked some of our people to move from Dallas, from Salt Lake City and now, from Los Angeles, to support the routes Delta asks us to fly. Through it all, the spirit of ASA people has been obvious through your passion for flying and customer service.

My sincere gratitude goes out to each and every ASA team member dealing with the changes being made daily to strengthen our airline – especially those directly affected by today’s news. Your flexibility and continued support of our airline will help ASA move closer to achieving our vision of becoming the most trusted and respected regional airline.

mgt said no new a/c once...buuuuut, we now have a net GAIN of what, 8 CR7s?

Big D has this magical (d!ck in a) box cost thing they want the DCIs to fit in. yet, like as said above, XJ has better rates than we do.
 
I wonder how ASA management is going to spin this. I bet they are really pissed off at Delta. No excuses for subpar rates now. A carrier with an excellent contract and rates is taking over our routes. I guess pay rates really dont matter so much! Haha expect mgmt's contract proposal to come up a bit now.
 
At least we will no longer have people ....ed off at us on both coasts now.
 
BL actually referred to himself and others as leaders. Everyone knows JA tells him what to do. The main thing is to keep the ASA pilots down so JA doesn't have to pay SW pilots if we get a better contract. (And keep us down to fight off ALPA at SW.)
 
ASA is a F*cking JOKE, I am embarassed to be associated with them. The crews are great, but management needs to take a leap off a cliff. They are all complete Idiots.

All I can say is that mgmnt better steer clear of ANYONE from LAX! I would LOVE to run into BL in the crew lounge. What a POS!!! This company SUCKS @SS and I can't wait to see where else they SCREW UP NEXT! I am very glad that it is EJET getting the flying...no more saying that we make too much money BULLSH!T!
 
Guys it is time to get off of this sinking ship. I think that this will become very clear in the months that follow after Delta exits B/k.

Sorry, Kooter - that cannot be true. IF XJT got this flying, it was at the same price Continental gets under the Capacity Purchase Agreement. The only way it would be at cost, as you suggest, would be if XJT offered the same thing to CAL.

If XJT is the carrier for this flying, I promise, no one here is happy to take anyone elses job. Just as the CHQ pilots were not overjoyed to get the CAL flying, this is an unfortunate reality of the marketplace we live in.

I thought that was only if a deal was for MORE than 10 planes... if this deal is 10 planes or less, then it DOESN'T have to match the CAL rates.... i've heard this numerous times... is this wrong?

according to the contract is was up to 10 airplanes where that cost was in place. Anything less than that it didn't apply
 
Sweet! lets see if we can cram 6 more airplanes into ATL. We've got all this empty gate space with no airplanes to fill them and ground personel just sitting around looking for something to do <sarcastic grin inserted here>. Hopefully we can get an east coast base somewhere. I also hope its Express Jet. Gotta be a bottom feeder to get growth...so take a pay cut please!!! Whatever!@!#@!!
