SKYW has been purchased by Mesa, so some of the bigwigs are "stepping down". You heard it here first!!!! :)

JO is going to rule the regional world.
 
They need to clean house at ASA. First I would start with that POS Scott Hall. He just needs his ass beat plain and simple. Scab. Then Lebreque and go from there.
 
Hopefully Mr. Childs recognizes the needs of our pilot group in order to run this airline.

Take care of your people and they will take care of you!

Here's one for the fence sitters. All the guys that were using the stability of Skywest's management as an excuse not bring in ALPA, there you go.

If anybody really thinks that Ron "stepped down" voluntarily, have I got a bridge for you.

Unless you read about Ron signing on at another company at a minimum of the same title/compensation package or more likely a higher position very quickly, he was forced out. Perhaps he was tired of being the horse holder and sought the top spot, but a lack of details make me think a darker ending.

SkyWest Airlines Names Russell "Chip" Childs As New President, Chief Operating Officer
ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- SkyWest Airlines, a subsidiary of SkyWest Inc., said Thursday it named Russell "Chip" Childs as president and chief operating officer.Childs replaces Ron Reber and will begin officially April 2.
Childs, who joined the airlines in 2001, will be responsible for the airline's operations and strategy, managing 10,000 employees and three major airline partnerships.
The company said Reber will remain with the airlines, working on special projects.
Shares of SkyWest remained unchanged at $27.27 in afternoon trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market.

After this Childs guy gets accustomed to kicking back in the office Ronny will be spending more time with the family.

The back room talk at Skywest is that he is working on a new certificate for Skywest inc. On the conference call they did say that skywest inc. is looking to move into a more diversified field. Sounds like we will find out sometime next month.

My guess is this is closer to the truth than the other posts above it....only time will tell. Besides, Ron has been at SkyWest for 30 years...its time to move on, or retire!

Yes it does appear Ron was forced out of his favorite position.

We have enough diversity with asa at the diner table.

Why bite off more than we can eat?

Unless Ron is going to hitch up with the likes of VA, then he must have dipped the pen in the company inc. too many times?
 
WallStreet didn't seem to mind. Stocks up at closing.

Sorry guys, we'll be the last to know about what is going on at SkyWest. All I know is that when it gets real quiet in SGU, something is going on. Wait for the pin drop.......
 
Another certificate? The next Go Jet or Freedom?

Or maybe Delta is going to buy back ASA and SkyWest wants another certificate for scope issues......

Let the wild speculation continue.
 
Well, I must say that RR is a really great person, and it's been a pleasure to work with him. He will definately be missed and I wish him well on whatever he plans to do from here on out.

However, I have faith in JA's decision that this will better position the company for the future. My full support goes out to JC on this one.
 
Mabey Ron is getting set to take the top spot at Midwest? They have been been saying that the midwest deal has more to it. Who knows mabey all that cash on hand is starting to burn a hole in Jerry's pocket.
 
Ron's a great guy. When I was in SGU for orientation as an intern, he took 15 minutes out of his day to talk to us as we were taking a tour of the building. I hope he stays with SkyWest, INC
 
My feeling on this is that Ron was thrown under the bus to placate UA and our own BOD for our recent performance problems.

The "black ops" thing is just spin to save face. This has happened to a number of top managers in the past. They are given menial tasks, like overseeing fuel, or hotel contracts, or they decide to return to fly the line, and after a while you don't hear about them anymore.
 
Ron has been wanting to get out for some time now, he was not asked to step down. After his father passed away last year he decided on moving on.

The interesting element of this was the behind the scenes power struggle from the next teir of VP's.

Holt and Childs are pretty much bitter enemies and Brad has said that he wants to take charge of ASA so there might be movement there as well.

I don't expect many changes with Childs flight ops wise, but if Holt goes it we could be in for ride........

Then in the near future we can expect Holt to return to the line so he can "spend more time with his family".

Then God help us all, because if there is anyone in management who pulls for the pilots, its Brad. With him out of the way, then management will really go wild.

Its not too late to send in your cards.

you're kidding, right?

the way I've heard it from folks in meetings, Brad is the only VP that doesn't stick his neck out for his group (Flt. Ops, which includes pilots).
