I've been there 6 months, and no line yet. I'll probably hold a buildup line in April or May, if they continue hiring.

The most junior guy holding a line in DAY was hired June of 06.

Reserve schedules are usually 5 on 2 off. 10 Days off a month. We're guaranteed to sets of at least 3 consecutive days off. Hard lines have 10-15 days off per month. Obviously the 15 days off a month go to the senior guys. The majority of the trips are 4 days, some 3days, and hardly any 2 days or day trips.

Our reserve rules aren’t the greatest. We are on reserve for 14 hours. Usually 0500-1900 local, or 1000-2400 local. With a 1.5 hour call out.

We have 10 hour hot reserve in DAY usually 0500-1500 local. No pay for hot reserve other than taxable per diem. You can be on hot reserve up to 3 consecutive days. I’ve never done that, but it seems to go in cycles: 1 day of hot reserve in a month, then hot reserve multiple times over a couple week span.

Upgrade right now is 5 years I think, so this isn’t the place to get your PIC time and leave. CHQ has a base in CMH, much more movement there. I’ve got a friend who is finishing up his 2nd year and has all day trips this month.

If you live in Dayton, and you’re just trying to build total time and not PIC PSA would probably be the place for you. I live in Columbus, and can sit at home on reserve.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions

Well if you come to ExpressJet you will get at least 11 days off on reserve and 12-20 when you hold a line. Should get a line around 6 month mark and hold CA in 2 years. Thats if you want to come to XJT.

Dude, do yourself a favor and stay away from here. I wont get into it on here but ask ANY of the PSA folks here other then a newhire and we all hate it. Do a search on here and read some of the PSA threads. If you do come here be prepared to lose your love for flying. Seriously, I'd look at mesa first if I was you.

Not everyone has to hate their job or their company. Some of us aren't afraid to take pride in our jobs and still enjoy flying. Everything is what you make of it. If you decide to be miserable, that is your choice, but don't expect everyone else to be as well.

If PSA is the most miserable place in existence, why do you still work here???

Mamba is right PSA will make you love the taste of blued metal, because you will go home at night and put a revolver in your mouth and pull the trigger a little further each time. Just to stop the pain.

If you would like an example how about getting a letter of warning signed by your chief pilot about your use of sick time. (sick time was used due to complications with the last few weeks of my wifes pregnancy). The company was aware of the issues but you get a letter anyway. I think in the same week the old MEC voted in slotted bidding for me.

Must be an FNG. No one with any senority here (FO's) like this place.

I didn't have to guess very hard that that would be your response.

There are obviously better places to work, but there are also some that are probably worse. When I decide that I can find a greener enough pasture to warrant resigning I will do so at the time. My question was simply relating to your opinion that if PSA is the worst place to work for in existence, why do you make the decision to continue to show up to work here? Merely a curiosity not intended to insight an argument or ruffle any feathers. -Cheers.

Edit -- I should also add that I would be lying if I said I did not get pissed off at PSA and the way people are treated around here. However, the day it starts to adversely affect my life and make me miserable will be the day I leave. And yes, there are obviously better places to start for some people. In the meantime, I enjoy my job at PSA for the most part and am not afraid to admit it.

paulsalem and Thermocouple,

Thanks for the information. I know that PSA is not everyone's first choice of where to work, but not everyone is 25 and only cares about how quickly they can sit left seat in a 747 and buy a boat and get a divorce. I am from Dayton and may one day wish to return for family and QOL issues. I have flown for corporate, charter, freight and airline entities, as well as other concerns outside of aviation. It's depressing to read all of the complaining on these boards from self-centered children with no apparent perspective of how fortunate they truly are. No job is perfect, but working with people who have such a poor attitude only makes things worse. Thanks again for the 411...

If you don't care about the left seat and bigger planes, what are you here for? As a 121 pilot that is all we care about. After training and a few months on the line you'll feel the pain.

I can appreciate what your saying but dude seriously. Not only will you NEVER upgrade here (which means an ok pay check) you will also have a TERRIBLE QOL. True no job is perfect but man I gotta tell you. You will kick yourself in one years time if you accept a job here.

Flavor of the day

What are the CP's telling these poor bastards to make even consider this place? If they can sell this place to anyone other than a freshly inked commercial ticket. They are in the wrong line or work.
