On the FOX 11 news channel (LA), they just did a sigment taped at ONT with the announcement of XJET. It all looked good, but they are saying that they are going to relieve the traffic at LAX with XJET at ONT. I dont think that operating 14 destinations on an ERJ is going to relieve that much traffic.

I do give them a much better chance than I-Air, but thats not saying a whole lot.

USA today also had an article about L.A. attatching LA to nearby airports, including ONT. This was about 2 months ago... I just wish we were doing this with 190's I think the public would be more receptive to that. But when God gives you lemons (69 145's)...
But to drive 30 minutes and beat the LAX travelling nightmare, that is pretty enticing.

You can't compare what XJT is doing to Flyi. XJT has diversified its business. They have an FBO, paint shop, charter, contract MX, and still fly for CAL. All their eggs are not in one basket.

I think Neeleman and the JB guys just got an idea. A while ago, I heard that JB was considering another So Cal base....the talk was ONT.

No it hasnt with point to point service. Head to head against the majors out of the majors backyard is what was tried before with "RJ's"

This is very true, and the Inland Empire is growing. But do you really think that people from Los Angeles will be willing to battle the traffic on the 10 in order to save a few bucks?

Depending on time of day, the 10 east isn't horrible while the 10 west into LA is almost always horrible from the 210 on. Might not be such a bad drive to ONT most of the day.

If they live in LA, then no.. but if they're in the middle why not?

There is a lot of overlap with SWA routes. I guess they are not concerned with the competition.

I dont know how many of these pairings match SWA, but it would be very easy for SWA to make them match. Almost all of the cities already have SWA gates and staff.

I don't know what team of monkeys dreamed this idea up for ExpressJet but it seems like they are trying to run the company out of business. People call getting on a 737 a small plane, much less a 50 seat Jungle Jet. I hate sitting in a regional jet for 15 minutes much less two hours.
I also cant believe that to make matters worse they are going almost head to head with Southwest on almost every city. Insane.

Yes. But Horizon has been doing it mainly with props which can make money with 50 pax on board. Those cute, shiney little jets are another story. Ask Independence Air how much money can be made with 50 seat jets in a stand alone operation. I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but economics are what they are.

I don't know about the other routes but on COS-SMF, COS-ONT, and COS-SAN expressjet will be the only airline offering non-stop service.

I know you will say that it isn't non stop between some of these cities but if you fill planes SWA can easily adapt and make these flights non stop or worse do the $39 and up fare between these cities, which ExpressJet would never be able to keep up with. When it comes to price the flying public will connect twice to save $10 and to fly in a roomier plane.

I am not going to list them all but you have overlapping Southwest routes in almost every city. The good news is you should be the big players for that BFL-SAN run.

ERJ CRJ whats the difference they both suck!!!

I have seen and worked with the rejects the Regionals are hiring, thats how I know I could get a job there. But I just dont want one.

Because I get over 15 days off a month and I just payed all my bills and still have a lot of money left over. Not like my brothers in the regionals scraping to get by paying back student loans and the like.
