The only accurate pay #'s are from the pilots. Mgt is full of it.

As a 7 year CA at ASA I made a total of $63,000 in 2006. This was not flying 90+ hours but taking what I get on on relief lines or reg. lines. I don't believe in picking up as I like my time off.

Other CA on the ERJ or CRJ, I would like to compare #'s.

We can't trust mgt numbers so lets hear it!! Profit sharing and all.
 
My ASA 7 year CR2 CA W2 says $62,900 taxable wages. However, if I add up the total compensation on my December 31st pay stub it was $75,900. You must add in 401K, non taxable per diem, etc. to your W2.
 
I made almost that much as a dispatcher....of course that included almost 200 hours of O.T.!
 
How much more do you need? The last time I checked a loaf of bread and a bottle of water only cost $3!
 
ASA CR7 cap. $92,482. And my johnson is bigger than yours too.

Sure not proud of it. My other job pays the bills. Four day trips are making it difficult to subsidize SkyWest's profitability.

Working in a far far away place(only 8 months out of the year)$98,000 TAX FREE! Flying the same regional jet you guys do.:) Theres a world of possibilities out there!

Per Diem IS income. No matter where you work you still have to eat! If your too cheap to eat out a few meals here and there then pack your own food.

Again that is only first year pay. The article did not specify this was first year pay. If people can not afford to come for the first year then do not come. Eventually first year pay will have to go up.

9,000-$)401K

$110,000 maybe a little more with per diem!

My second job payed about twice that number, but I paid a $hit load of taxes on it!

The fact is all regional pilots are under-paid for what we do. The fact is the travelling public doesn't believe how little we make, and the ones who do don't care because cheap wages means cheap tickets.

The only thing that will make pax believe is when they see pilots leaving. And then they won't care until the pilot shortage caused by management actually affects their travel plans. When they read that regional airline mgmts don't care enough about ALL their employees to provide them and their families fair pay and working conditions, and as a result they are not going to get where they want to go as scheduled, they can complain to mgmt. Of course mgmt doesn't care if the passengers are happy or not, but they don't want to look bad, so maybe they'll finally be inclined to fix things.

ALPA should run an ad campaign in the airport terminals apologizing to the passengers for any inconvenience they may experience as a result of the pilot shortage. And then explain that the shortage is a result of "x-amount" of pilots leaving for other airlines and other careers each month because of low pay and poor working conditions caused by mgmt's refusal to negotiate a contract comparable to other carriers.

That would be money better spent than one ad in the USA Today.

Hey, that's only about 20 or 30 grand less than 2nd year FO pay at SWA UPS or FDX. Pretty good, pretty good.........

Your point? This 'aint SWA, UPS or FDX, and not all of us will get that 1% shot at working there, even if we wanted it.

There's much more to life than money. If you can't live well on $92k a year, then you need to rethink your expenses.

1% shot?

You can't throw a dead cat in the DAL crew room without hitting an ex ASA-er.

I don't know about UPS or FDX but there are TONS of ASA guys (and girls) getting hired at SWA.

I never do math in public, but I betcha it's a whole lot higher than 1%

As far as someone not WANTING it, that's fine, everyone needs to do what's right for them and their family. But as far as the odds for those that do want it, they are pretty good right now.
