Any word. Guys in my unit said things are to slow. Expecting US and world economy to slow and age 65 (Fall 07 or early 08). This will be a permenant slowdown for a while. There will still be hiring but expect to sit in the FE seat awhile and trickle movement to wide body FO in AK only, mostly 72. after 18 months or more!!!!!. Everyone and there mother trying to get into the right seat of what ever they can get before the music slows. they did not know anything about word on m&g's (rumor???). direct hire into rt seat wide and narrow will be a non player. Timing is everything and we missed the best times for a while.

Anybody with something postive to add to this disheartening post? Put me in a glum mood for a day. At least when I buy a lottery ticket I think I've got a chance...

Lies and rumors would be fine.

We got two or more years until 60 changes.

This current NPRM will make some over 60 guys hang around on the panel, but not all of them. Some were doing it anyway. And the fly till you die crowd do eventually die.....

We're increasing the fleet by ~30 jets this year.

I'd rather go to the panel first anyway. It's a great way to learn the system and company procedures without having to master the Mighty Dog at the same time.

Bottom line: yeah you'll see more guys upgrading, but hiring shouldn't be slowed too terribly much until the rule changes.....

Just conjecture here but...
couldn't help noticing they have added 150 new lockers to the crew room in ANC. If I was a betting man, I would put money on a lot of new seats opening up in ANC on the next bid.

I doubt it. There isn't nearly enough lift capacity in Asia as it is. If you look at the trends, cargo has always trended upward (albeit more slowly) even during economic slowdowns. So I don't think it'll slow down all that much.

How about the meet & greets? February was the rumor if I remember correctly, and......it's February!

So if you don't know anybody at FedEx, but you go to a job fair, what are your chances? I just got my FE written, have about 1600 Hhrs 121 PIC with about 500 RJ PIC & 5500 TT. All civilian.
