Flying the B-717 (good & bad)

I'm interested in the pros & cons of flying the 717. If anyone has pieces of info they can send my way, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Great airplane, just uncomfortable seats (up front).

Great airplane to fly. All the technology one might ask for with a great Douglas stick and rudder feel when hand flying. High flap speeds(280 for slats and 200 for full flaps). If you can see the runway, you can probably get down and land on it, unlike the 737. Quiet cockpit and the seats aren't any worse than anything else I've flown except maybe the 767-400 which has some nice seats.

You'll like the 717. Built like a tank, simple systems, very reliable. The only neagtive thing I can think of is the uncomfortable cockpit seats. A few other positives: Quiet cockpit, great radar, plenty of power (compared to the DC-9), nice avionics, FMS is pretty decent.

All of that being said, if you ask someone who has flown the 717 and the 737-700 (or any other boeing for that matter) 95% of them will prefer the boeing. Best of luck.

Fantastic airplane! True LCD displays...not CRT's. You don't even have to tune any navaid freqs. Just load the approach from the database and that's it. ACARS w&b too. Super quiet. Excellent air conditioning system.

Oh come on now, you know full well that the ERJ's seats were WAY better than the 717's. Just being able to move the seat sideways would go along way with the 717.

State of the art avionics. Great reliability rate. Straightforward cockpit design. It's a great airplane to fly. McDonnell Douglas got it right.
