We shall see.

I agree. You're probably right in that it was the ad-hoc committee that spoke to Parker as your article said, but since the other committee has been silent thus far publicly none of us know for sure what they're up to. Since it's a committee made up of various interests one or more of them could have told Parker he is 1 bil off of what they need or Parker could grasping at straws. The official committee could have told him to up his offer because they want to play it off something else they have in the back pocket. Either way, we don't know and it's all down to hedged guesses now. The government is background noise without the official creditors approval, so I'm not sure Parker is too concerned about that at this particular point.

You are right, the official committee is being quiet. They were probably waiting for the fake Feb 1st deadline. If the official committee didn't take this offer initially, Gordon Bethune probably didn't support the original offer. If he did, then they would have been pressing for more info from USAir probably. The ad hoc committee just wants their money now, and does not care about the long term plans of Delta. The official committee probably does, with Boeing, GE, Dalpa, etc dominating it. The ad hoc committee, as GL stated, has claims of $2.2 billion, which is equal to Dalpa. Boeing and the others could override that with their larger shares, and other large creditors not on the official committee, like American Express with their Skymiles program, also seem to want Delta to go it alone. This will get interesting.

HAH hahaHAh haahha ha! The big bad Delta. Seriously though, do you really think Parker has anything to be scared of.
Only the people that pay his salary. Its quite obvious by his testimony infront of the senate comittee that he is WAY below his pay grade!

He could quit tomorrow and live comfortably for several lifetimes. If you want to say we're afraid(US pilots), maybe I'd buy that. I think if you really want to see someone that's shaking, go look in the mirror.
Never said I wasn't shaking (about this hostile takeover).
Your boss is a bafoon, and his testimony only solidified that!
I'm actually more scared for you guys!

GUYS,

It seems to me that once he (Parker) hits "the cherry spot" the creditors will be in his back pocket and turn on Delta and their "plans". Its just a matter of time, baby.

Lets remember the creditors $ only $ care $ about $ one thing $. Its not "the route structure", "its not the fleet type", "its not the pilots' seniority list", "its not about Delta as a stand alone company" its all about money. Money talks. AWA/USA will make this happen. Thats how I see it, from my view point.

the SWA/FO.

Ahhhhhhh!! What he said...

Parker and these banks from wallstreet are saying "let the market work"....

Are these the same groups that accepted and pleaded for government aid after 911?

Very good thinking SWA/FO.

I've never seen a guy contradict himself more frequently than Parker. It's amazing that USAir stock has such a high value. I'd be shorting the stock if I knew how...

So, you think Dalpa, one of the largest creditors, is thinking only about the money? How about Boeing, who may not want potential sales going away to a mostly Airbus airline? How about the PBGC, who might not want Parker to trash the rest of the non union employees pensions? They have a $2.3 billion claim? How about American Express, who makes more money with their Skymiles program credit card than any other card they use? They are owed $1 billion? How about GE with their engine orders, or Coca Cola with their headquarters in ATL? How about the retired Delta pilots, with $800 million in claims? You really don't know what you are talking about. None of them want a USAir controlled Delta, and 5 of them are on the official committee, out of 9. Your view point is way off.

No, not really. He misses the obvious. Many creditors want a long term relationship, and those that do have most of the claims. The ad hoc committee, the ones making all of the noise right now, only have $2.2 billion in claims. There are plenty of creditors that are not on the official committee that also want Delta to be stand alone, like American Express and the retired Delta pilots. SWA F/O is wrong.

American Express and the retired Delta pilots

Oh, yeah I forgot about the powerful "retired double breasted wearing Delta Air Lines pilots" that (now) provide nothing for the company. I'll give you AE but com'on they don't give a $hit about the old guys.

the SWA/FO, is right on this one.

They have $800 million in claims alone. I would think that is a fairly large piece of the claim pool. They have some say.

They certainly do. Their $800M combined with the DAL pilots $2.1B is a large chunk of the total claim pool. It is far more than Doogies ad hoc "unofficial" creditors committee can muster.

yeah 800 million is a huge chunk of 10 billion.
