ExpressJet Holdings Inc. intends to roll out an independent regional jet service to 24 cities across the country.
Houston-based ExpressJet (NYSE: XJT), which operates regional flights for Continental Airlines Inc. (NYSE: CAL), said Wednesday that it has 44 aircraft in place to launch the small-market regional service in April in the West, Midwest and Southeast portions of the country.

ExpressJet will unveil the new route system, to include free XM Satellite radio, advanced seat assignments and snack and meal service on longer flights, on Feb. 1 when it releases its ticket pricing system.
Separately, the company said that it has gone to arbitration in a dispute with Continental over 2007 rates related to its capacity purchase agreement, expected to be resolved by the third quarter.
The company also said that its new corporate aviation division operated its initial charter flight on Dec. 31, with six aircraft dedicated to that fleet, with plans to expand to 15 aircraft.

Yes on our own, but only 20% on our own. The rest is still CO flying and some mysterious other that is "to be announced".

Good luck making money with RJs. The fuel cost may just ruin this plan. Good thing that they are using only 20 jets instead of all 69.

I also heard you guys got some Delta flying. Cheers to that.

its not 20 its 44 planes for the branded. Supposedly 10 for Delta. 15 for charter. Unless we are awarded some of the new aircraft for Delta than thats it for now.

Taken from another forum~~
CASM numbers: FWIW

Costs Per Avail. Seat Mile: (cents)
ExpressJet 2006: 11.49

I hope XJT took notes from all the idiotic decisions made by Independence and learned from their ill fated mistakes.
But then, I interviewed at XJT, I think their mgt did take serious notes and will run a 50 seat airline and run it efficiently. I only chose to go to AWAC last year, because I wasn't sure about those 69 airplanes.

for some reason it just clashes like hell to my eyes

But that might be a good thing. If it catches peoples eyes. Hence SWA paint jobs. I think once it gets out into the sun and we geta better view of it it will grow on you. Its different.

Have they announced the routes yet? I saw somewhere that COS and SMF were two of the cities to be served and was wondering if there will be a direct flight from COS to SMF

I think the marketing campaign kicks off after 1 Feb so you should have an answer then. Also there is supposed to be a big press dog and pony show @ ONT on 24 or 25 Feb.

I actually like it as well. It's a nice break from the reds, blues and grays you see on everyone else's airplanes. Maybe SkyWest will do something more creative for the 35th anniversary paint scheme then what was done for the 30th.

Cabin pictures of the new 'Xjet'?

Does anyone have any pictures of the inside of the new 'Xjet'? Any big changes?

Looks like a charter aircraft for the University of Miami. :D

It looks ok tho, its different..thats what makes it cool.

Hope it works out for them, its where I want to be in about 16 months...

Just keep drinking the Kool-Aid everything is fine and you still have jobs. There is nothing to worry about keep drinking the Kool-Aid as Jimmy Boy loves you.

Same dog and pony show seen it before and know how it ends.

And its the same story everywhere.

These new start-ups think that they can go into "new markets". Independence Air tried this with IAD-LAN. Then Northwest Airlines put an RJ on that market and ran I-Air out. I-Air tried Huntsville-Orlando. Delta put a Comair on it and ran I-Air out. No matter what the new airline tries, the majors are going to match the route, offer lower fares, and triple ff miles.

It just doesnt work. You cant compete with the majors and there ff points and destinations.

On that note, good luck.

Worked for Jetblue and SWA.

SWA et al. aren't going to start routes that they can't support. SWA DOESNT currently fly ONT/SAN-BOI, GEG-MCI, SMF-TUS, they dont even fly to COS, or MRY.

Everyone needs to see that this is not a LCC trying to win business from others. XJT is developing new market pairs to save connections/time, for a current market price but with quality service (XM radio and food).

Wait till Feb. 1, check out the website, then we'll talk.
