Guys/Gals,
Not to highjack the thread, I am flirting with idea of putting my application in with Colgan, I am from Charlie West and was wondering how difficult is it for new hires to get the CRW domicile ?

Thanks

My airplane's yoke may not come out of the floor but its got a big brass pair strapped to the bottom of the wing spar baby.

(Officially taking and running with, the flame-bait)

Hey Hey Hey! The Saab may be slow and ugly, but it burns alot of gas. Lord of the Landing Gear, I WISH! I sit jumpseat while the flight mechanic sits right seat and fixes all the problems. Carry the torch well!:D

All I hear about is how well the Beech climbs. Well any airplane will climb fast when it is EMPTY!!!!!!! even the Slaab. People see the beech and turn back inside or clutch various religious symbols and pray to whatever holy entity does it for them, trip on the ridiculous door stairs, start to hyperventilate from the closed in spaces, get pissed because there is no place for even an umbrella, hyperventilate again because of the closed in spaces, dont remember asking for a charter plane, tap one of the two guys up front and ask where the lavatory is, turn around and realize they are one of 5 passengers, get sick watching through the front windows and how it is never straight and level and the approaches look like crash landings, then of course experiencing the beech crash landing, then get to watch the big puff of smoke when they shut down those little egg beaters on the wings, then trip down those ridiculous door stairs, then thank that same holy entity that they made it alive but the pilots say.... we climb really fast.................FLAME THE F*** ON!!!!!!

How long is it going to take Colgan to set up shop in CKB/MGW/PKB? We have a company record from MGW to CKB for the Saab, 6min 31sec wheels off to wheels on (FMS). That's not half bad for a light A-Model with a tailwind. You guys should see if you can beat that, safely of course.

Beech crash landing? most of em are really smooooth. the saab landings on the other hand...never felt a greaser. but then you're gonna tell us "it's because of the design of the landing gear!" Right.
And Egg beaters on the wings? They're 1600 shp PT6s flat rated to 1279. So we're not too far from you on the horsepower department, for a smaller and lighter plane. And anytime we want that power we can get it....unlike you hoping to God you're helo motors don't crap out.
I hate it when people get jealous of the Beech...
FLAME BACK!

yah, well, we have water and other beverages in the summer and you don't

Hey any news from conference call? Any news about why CRW is the best base in the system? Maybe since Wu thinks its gay it is probably their attention to detail, sensitivity towards others and flamboyant personalities!

Banjo players got to him! They sneak out of the hills late at night looking for out of towners. They are making a movie about it!

If you are trying to "greasejob" landings in the 121 world than you aren't doing the job the way you are trained. Touchdowns good, bad or mediocre don't mean crap. ON-SPEED, STABILIZED, IN THE TOUCHDOWN ZONE and ON THE FRIGGIN CENERLINE!

I will always try to grease it. Always power off unless there's weather. I got it down to 92 KIAS one day at touchdown. If you can't grease the Saab, you just aren't trying. As far as training, I'm pretty sure you're not trained to crack the conrete either.

Lessons will be given for beer. :pimp:

Hopefully all of that happens within the touchdown zone, or else it doesn't count!

Remember- just because you have 11,500ft of runway doesn't mean you have to use all of it.
Those of us behind you that often can't slow below 160kt without rubber touching concrete certainly do appreciate it!

I heard they are closing CRW. Oh and the beech does suck that is why we are selling them all away and no FOs upgrade in them anymore. I you can't land the saab and grease it in the touchdown zone then you are going to fast and you suck at flying

The Saab wins for two reasons. Flight Attendant (if she has less than 3 venereal diseases) and AutoPilot (if it works)

You can have the faster beechcraft, we get paid by block. Passengers are scared by both. Enjoy the 2 and 3 passenger loads up to Pittsburgh out of WV.

Touchdown zone? What's that? Always do. The how slow can you go was a competition between the captain and I and was never in front of anyone.

I can make a turn off in less than 2000' if needed and I've flown in front of 74s. Trust me, I don't hold up traffic. 250 to the marker, sure. 200 till 1000 feet, sure.

From 7000 feet, cleared for the visual 24R and don't cross the 405. No problem. :)

yeah, i use the saab autoland feature. Hold it off until i get the stick pusher. I actually flew with one of our check airmen once and thought he had to teach me to land. He used the flight director all the way to the ground and augered the friggin plane into the ground at LGA. I think I lost 2 fillings on that one. Now I know what it feels like when the struts bottom out on the saab.

If your approach is on-speed and you slow to REF right before the aiming stripes, there's no reason not to make a smooth, touchdown zone landing. Having even PL and flight control rigging and being able to land on newer, smoother runways like the ones at Dulles help too. And simply some planes fly better than others.

Hey Prop2Jet, I spent my Colgan Xmas bonus on some King Videos so I can nail the upgrade interview. I could listen to and look at Martha all day. I cut out a picture of her and keep it in my FO hat now for good luck.

King Videos and Colgan rule!
