So with about 2800 pilots on furlough that means they should be hiring by 2018!

Just kidding!

Figuring about one in three will take recall, that means about four years to recall everyone (at the current rate).

1 class of 20 per month for now. As soon as enough instructors can be trained, they will bump it up to 40 per month (I don't know if they plan 40 per class or two classes of 20.).

They have gone through 116 people to fill two classes and 4 for the March 7 class as of noon today. TC

good news for AA pilots! and for AE pilots ;-)

20/month is still just treading water.

20/month still allows AA to shrink to attain a higher stock price (the only real goal of mAAnagement.

In the hiring boom 6 years ago, the limits was about 100 per month due to sim availability. If they go to 40 per month that's quite a lot of instructors, especially since most will need full quals and type ratings.

But they were splitting up the classes between the S80 and 727 back then. Now, it will be the S80 and a smattering of 737's (and, eventually, 767's). TC

Yea, you're right. No FEs and no 727 sims. Without the 76's, 40 a month seems like a pretty large number, capacity wise.

Rumor today is that they've called 130 to get the first 20 plus 5 so far for March (of which 3 are supposedly flowbacks), so if you discount the 60 (?) voluntary in-steads that's about a 1 in 3 acceptance rate. If they get to 40/mo soon that'll be about 120/mo getting a chance. Not too shabby - definitely a step in the right direction for a change.

Holy cow I actually might be a line holder by May! Not easy after 4 straight years of reserve. How does trip trading work again?

aa73,

Maybe you can publish a "Survivers Guide to Reserve at AA". Many will need one and maybe you can pick up some extra $$$.

I held a line for 7 glorious months in SLT about 3 years ago.

I felt so grown up.

But as my strategy means being reinstated back to DFW, I doubt I'll be a lineholder for years and years.

Well, X, they'll all want immediate refunds when they realize what a Fubar deal I just sold them!

You get Pref Bid with demand staffing and reserve goes so senior, you'll never hold it. TC
