Looks like insurance is TA'd, and mgmt sent over another "comprehensive" proposal. Could it be that this whole mess is going to be resolved soon? One can only hope.

I wouldn't get too excited just yet...

Nope. Look for rates to get held up until Comair Ta's concessions so ASA management can hold those rates over us. They are agreeing to the little junk that should have been done years ago, probably to appease the mediator.

All points taken, but I believe that mgmt needs this contract done asap for growth either here already, or on the horizon. We shall see what this proposal mgmt offered is all about. You can't fault a guy for hoping.

We can hope for the best, but expect the worst. I am trying to stay calm until I actually get the ASA Connection Special that says: "Contract TA'd!"

Nothing to get excited over - yet

When I called the strike center today to register our arrival for the overnight as part of the strike prep exercise, they said management offered a 2% raise for CR2 and ATR captains - and ZERO for anyone else. So we're back to the games. They also said the mediator told the negotiators to not plan on going home tonight (since this was supposed to be the last day).

I still can't understand the mentality of management - that's not even a good faith offer. I hope the mediator talks some sense into them or releases us.

Told ya!

This is not going to have the easy/happy ending youre all hoping for.

ASA management aren't going to sign off on any scope clauses without being in a 30 day cooling off period.

........Or any tangible pay rate increases. The only productive thing we can hope to get out of this session is getting to the cooling off period.

Gonna take more than a 2% on just two planes and a raise on the 700, and FO raises, plus some back pay for me to even consider a YES vote, if it ever gets there. Now these creeps wanna pay us 1 1/2 for picking up open time. Screw them! I say pay double time! At least the CMR pilots and FAs have some balls! Over 500 called in sick from what i hear on Xmas. We should do the same, and not pick up the open time, but we won't.

Release Us and Get On With The STRIKE!

Did anyone else notice the kind of results Comair got just after the holidays? How many flights did they cancel on 12/25 due to crew illness? How quickly did CA mgmt decide not to impose new work rules and pay? It looks like the tactics of that pilot group were very effective.

After reading Scott's email regarding the short staffing levels expected until May, I would think that the ASA pilot group would be in a position with enough leverage to effect similar results.

Umm... Are we all forgetting that was an illegal job action? Maybe that doesn't matter to you, but it does to me. I will strike if the proper channels are followed, but I refuse to do anything illegal, even if it is in my best interest.

Being principled means doing the right thing, even when it isn't in your best interest. Think of all of the families on Christmas day who weren't together due to an illegal labor action. Those people had done nothing wrong, and deserved a more professional pilot group. Anyone who called in sick that day (who wasn't actually sick) should be ashamed.

he's talking about not picking up extra flying, and presumably flying the contract. Get off your high horse................

Not a high horse. Its just sad to see so many people compromise their professional ethics on here. Of course, they could be just all talk, and wouldn't really do an illegal job action.

I agree totally with not picking up open time. If you don't want it, don't take it. If the build the lines as high as they say they will, good luck!

I'm not saying we should roll over, I just wish people would act with a little professional integrity.

Anyway, I think you need to read his post again. He goes from talking directly about the sick-out, to talking about how we could get similar results at ASA. At the very best it is implying that a sick out is a good thing.

<Did anyone else notice the kind of results Comair got just after the holidays>

Yeah moron - 12 of their planes got transferred.

Oh yeah - they also got horrible press for the thousands of people they screwed and Delta will now part them out faster.

Good job.

My opinion is as follows:

Crew scheduling will try every avenue to cover the flying. Not picking up open time at 150% punishes the poor soul who is finishing up a four day. He gets extended to cover the flying that the other pilot "boycotted". I believe the pilots are better served by letting those willing pick up the time without harrassment. Just my two cents. With a 96 hour line this month I am not able to pick up much of anything.

Yea. And he gets the priviledge of having to call his wife and kids and tell them that he will not be home at the planned time. I believe the guy getting extended is being forced to work while the guy picking up open time is choosing to work. Correct me if I am wrong.

I have to wonder how many people they have that they can actually extend. Scheduling called and left me a message Saturday asking me to pick up a trip, and since they always seem to take the path of least resistance, i.e. extending/junior manning someone, I wonder if they might not have many people available to prey on.

Everytime I have a pairing with 1 leg home, I always tell my wife that I may not be home as scheduled. I don't particularly care for the whole extension clause, but it was agreed to by our group years ago, and I don't complain when it happens to me. Nor do I give the scheduler ******************** for it either.

WRONG!!! Delta could not part Comair out faster than they are! Comair is dead as fast as The Evil Empire can kill them. Don't confuse yourself.

It's much better to have someone who wants to do the trip at 150%, rather than someone have their plans changed on an off day. Not picking these trips up will only result in someone else getting extended or JM.

I think if they build lines to 90+ hours, they will not be able to junior man very much. No prey if they aren't legal.
