Oh, pardon me, I thought there was some coherent discussion going on here. My bad.

Holy sh*t, a triple team by MAGNUM!!, Oh-ryan and SIG600. I’ll reply to MAGNUM!! since he is the only AF guy of the three.

Here's your problem, Dave. You have very little idea what happens between launch and trap. Contrary to what you may think, fighter aviation is not all about takeoffs and landings. Me and guys like Scrapdog and SIG are much, much more alike than we are different. Once we're all in the fight, how we got there makes no difference. And, yes, AF jets are just as close to the action as any CVN. The LSO has a front row seat...to the traffic pattern.

I think you need to spend some time in the backseat of an F-16 during a night Red Flag or an actual combat mission sometime. You might just realize how little you actually know.

As for the tailhook party, there will probably be more AF guys there than you realize. Further, the Navy fighter pilots in attendance have more in common with the AF fighter pilots than with you. Where did all this animosity for all things USAF originate, anyway? Most mids drop that ******************** once they graduate.

What other response would I expect from the poster boy of the 9 to 5 AF culture? Drop your bombs and head home to a few rounds of golf and happy hour.

While the AF views “takeoff and landing” as just a simple event, the Navy views “takeoff and landing” from a much higher level strategic perspective. The Carrier Air Power Strategy is what truly gives the US a fast global strike capability.

The AF global strike capability may look good on PowerPoint, but it is the Navy that has the actual capability to execute. While an F-16 is RTB and on his second piddle pack (Navy pilots simply use a Gatorade bottle and then sell it to the AF guys as a new lemon-lime flavor), the Navy guys have already landed and rearmed for the next dmpi’s. Being 400 nm from the target is good.

Plus, a CVN doesn’t have to worry about basing rights. It’s all about location, location, location MAGNUM!!

The AF has outstanding pilots, but in 3-5 years there’s not going to be many of them. After force shaping the AF is going to consist of 195 F-22s and 300 pilots. Didn’t you guys just retire the F-117 to buy 2 more F-22s?

Your F-15 and F-16 pilots better hope they make the cut for that final slot of 300 or they will find themselves teaching soaring or basic and advanced unlawful harassment in Colorado Springs. Or there is always the Palace Chase program.

God this guy makes me wanna blow my own head off. They oughta just read this crap to you in SERE in lieu of some of the other "stuff" you get to listen to.

Bravo!

One of the funniest posts I've ever read here on FI.com...even if your comedy is unintentional. Comedic gems like that one are the reason I haven't put you on my ignore list...

...yet.

Why Not?

Meanwhile most of us are hoping you'll come to your senses soon and spare us his drivel. He is a 1-eyed trouser snake that never has had anything worthwhile to contribute.:puke:

Please don't include massive Dave G. quotes in your posts, it kind of defeats the purpose of the ignore list option.

You must have had the easy SERE class Pat.

Last I checked, both the USN, Marines, and USAF were on the same side and I'm glad of it. Having worked with some Navy guys fragging sorties in Bosnia, I gained a lot of knowledge and respect for the challenges, capabilities, and limitations of carrier operations and for individual Naval and Marine aviators.

There's always a few arrogant pinheads that like to go around engrandizing themselves by denegrating others collectively, but, probably like the rest of their fellow squadron members did, I just consider them entertainment . . . . . but not the kind of guys that you'd drink with.
