Express Pilots Going To CAL

Quick question, are the Express pilots going to CAL still keeping their seniority, with regards to pass travel, etc. (doh at Express and not CAL)

I heard that would eventually end?

Now this does not count towards the jumpseat, that is soley DOH at CAL. correct?

Considering most people that have been hired from ExpressJet where before CAL employees. They were Hired as CAL employees with Gordon welcoming every newhire class and every paycheck coming from CAL i would hope it was that way. Not all that have been hired where hired at that time but most where. Alot of people got the hose job when th IPO happened thats the least that should happen for guys and gals leaving express to CAL. I wasnt part of that group but i did see the bend over job that took place. Not to mention that alot of them were pushed back after the whole flow back deal.

Needless to say they deserve to keep at least that.

However, you have had the same pass classification as mainline employees for those 7 years. The only other regional airlines that offer the same pass benefits as mainline are ASA and Comair for Delta. That is something to be noted. As an independent unit, not a wholly owned of Continental, why should anything transfer anymore? Unless there was a special agreement in place, then I totally understand.

Hey Mr. Hat. Have you been blackballed by CAL? I spoke with a guy a couple of days ago who I and many other people had written rec's for and he found out that he had been blackballed. His application had been "restricted".

I hope you have not been. Seems like a screw job to me.

My issue is that I do not have a college degree....which means that they will hire me but I really have to stand out. I am trying and I have signed back up for college in an attempt to show them how badly I do want to work for CAL.
I don't know about anybody being "restricted" but I do know what my situation is from a very reliable source in hiring at CAL. I'm sure I am not blackballed, I'm a pretty good employee you know.

I still have some tricks up my sleeve. There will be a few people stopping by the CPO's for me next month after the holidays....I haven't given up and hopefully it will work out.

With the exception of pay rates, no one in the "118 group" got what you described above and they were the first ones to go to CAL when hiring began last year.

Holy September 2001 Batman! Benefit to CAL=$0. Fortunately the Express guys that preceded you to CAL haven't carried such an attitude otherwise the class drops might look quite a bit different.

Well, thats good. It's probably the same source this guy has who is now in the Continental hiring dept. He told this friend of mine his app has been restricted, and no one knows why, not even the guy in the hiring dept.

Mr. Hat...I don't doubt you are a "pretty good employee" as you say, but I've got a grand idea for ya that just may help you in the future. Instead of "signing up for college" to show how much you want to work at CAL...actually sign up for college (and finish it to get your degree) to better yourself as a person. I know, I know - what crazy logic.

All done online and by mail, then you get a certificate from some unknown non-accredited university. CAL doesn't care or know where your degree is from or how legit it is.

Not true...they know of the paper mills and look down on this very strongly.

That being said many have gotten hired w/o degrees in this hiring swing. While going back to school is always a good idea, tell your buddy who's going to the CP to be persistnt. Squeaky wheel gets the grease theory.

Nope, bought them yesterday - they're the real big ones that wrap around your entire eye socket. And no, never flew on the Thunderbirds...never aspired to wear the tight, red flight suit.

It depends on what metric you're looking at.

I did the financial math on it (planning on a 10 year upgrade at CAL, 6 at SWA) and SWA won out by $1M over the life of a 30 year career.

Down boys. Back to your corners. I know both of you and I think you'd both get along famously, both in the cockpit and at the bar. CAL has hired pilots without degrees...one of them is a good friend of mine. They've even hired pilots with online degrees/extension campus degrees. I think it will all eventually work out for Mr. Hat (I hope so) and Scrapdog should get off this thing and head back to the CBT lab...but Scrap is right about one thing. Saying you are back in college is a start but actually completing the credits and finishing is what is going to count.

No, as of 1/1/07, all XJT pilots who start with CAL will have their DOH for pass travel reset completely.

Actually Ben...the 113 went over with their vacation, sick bank, vacation passes, etc. The only difference was that they carried their 2001 pay rates over to CAL as opposed to their 2005 pay rates.
