Hi folks, I might have a interview coming up for an airline overseas, I need to study up on ICAO stuff....

Can somebody help a brother out!

Vspeeds!

There are a lot of gauges about airlines abroad in PPRUNE. Do a search there and most likely the one you will be interviewing with will be there. Good luck!

Where about? Asia? Middle east? EU?

You'll love the middle east. It is a paradize. Beautiful beaches, fresh air and long summers. I went there for vacation flying in Aug of 90 and stayed for months. Wait...that was the first iraq war...never mind.

Really, man I would go anywhere before I would go back to the ME and I have been to more countries than most.

biggest difference u will discover is radio phraseology there is a publication by a Continental pilot with the differences...the USA is "non-standard" in many of these aspects....most middle east airlines use JAR-ops style manuals etc...etc..you will find no major problem in learning to use this system..been here 15yrs love it...if u are off to the UAE enjoy the beach...none in Bahrain

The problem with that statement is that the "Middle East" is a very big place. I would agree that a job in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, or Kuwait would not be to my liking. A job in the UAE or Oman can be quite good. Bahrain and Qatar would be somewhere in the middle.

I've also been to a lot of countries, and more importantly lived in them for extended periods. That is not living at the US military base, but living in the city as an individual. Very different than what a military person would experience.

I find living in the UAE quite nice and prefer it, from a lifestyle standpoint, to living in Asia. It'll never be home, but it's not bad.

'Anywhere' is a big place. Ditto TP's sentiments.

Tons of info here:

It's all the resources for flight planning CONUS and abroad. Lots o' gouge. Good luck deciphering our military speak. Start with the ICAO section of the GP and then look at the AP's. Hopefully you have broadband and acrobat. They are rather gi-normous files. Good luck.

So guys coming back to the question I asked regarding studying up on ICAO stuff.......does anybody know of any good websites?

Any ideas Typhoon Pilot or Golden Falcon?

Appreciate any info!
