Just a heads up. I could be wrong about this, but my personal opinion is that the news from this morning will NOT be well received among our pilots. I would expect that our company will suffer on operational integrity in the coming days or weeks as as 'response'. As many of you know, it doesn't take much for things to snowball in JFK and I imagine this will be quite a large snowball indeed.

That will be the immediate response and a union drive will likely follow. Again, my opinion only but the rumblings throughout our pilots suggest that this might be the case.

Thank you to all of you for your hospitality on your jumpseats. Good luck to all commuting on us over the holidays.

dude
if u need others opinion you have to tell us what you're talking about.
WHAT NEWS FROM THIS MORNING?

whats he talking about?

I can't say that I am happy with todays decision, but I don't see how doing anything to harm the integrity of our operation is going to help...other than to give management more reason to not reward us for our efforts. I think we should try the reward theory...since obviously the strike (for lack of better term) theory doesn't seem to do any good, other than cost us, and the company money.

I, for one, will continue to perform my duties as I agreed, and to get our customers, rev and non-rev, to their destination in the safest and most professional manner I am capable of...I would like to think that my brethen at B6 will do the same. In that process, we can still find a way to organize and get what we deserve.

That would be the professional thing to do. Calling in "sick" will accomplish absolutely NOTHING positive. There are better avenues for expressing one's dissatisfaction.

Yeah... what he said! Taking out our frustration on the company and our customer does no good. It only weakens our position. Show up, smile, and do the best job you can. It will reward you in the end when the company has as much money as possible to negotiate a pay package with in the future.

Any gains you see in the future will either be:

1. Negotiated for you by unionized pilots at other airlines

2. As a result of a wholesale exodus of JB pilots leaving to fly at those airlines.

He's referring to JetBlue's pilots organizing. After today, that's a virtual certainty.

Thats exactly what I'm referring to. No one outside of JetBlue can even fathom how big this crapstorm really is. Just trust me when I say I've never witnessed a group as angry as ours.

Good luck with that, as it has been proven on numerous occasions a union will protect scope, retirement, no furloughs the list goes on. Look what they have done for UAL, DAL, ATA, TWA, NWA and the 1600 still on the street at the new LCC yeah I want a piece of that, sign me up I can hardly wait to line the pockets of others with my contribution just to make you feel better.:puke:

Elag. Let's assume that JB pilots do actually organize and form a union either their own or call in alpa. Would you become a member or would you defer to defending yourself with your privately paid lawyer if the circumstance ever prestented itself? Just curious how you feel.

Is this for real or are you just trying to make an interesting thread on the board. If it is for real, what are the details from the announcement?
