anyone know if when offered a class date on the 145, can you wait instead for a 170 class? rumor is if you try they won't call back? true?

You can wait, but you'd be stupid to do it. The only thing you'll lose is seniority numbers. Pay is the same. Lots of movement coming, so lots of people will get seniority while you wait to fly the jumbo shrimp

I'm not touching this one.
Why? Because you can't think for yourself? Just because everyone on here talks about SJS like they know what's up?

You got registered in JAN, probably when you got hired, or were looking for work, and now know everything? You are part of the problem. Those that don't know history are doomed to repeat it.

Here's the real deal. Maybe this person wants a specific domicile. You may not know this, espcially because you seem to get all of your information about the world from this cess pool, but we have different domiciles. Maybe this person wants ORD or DCA or PIT. None of those have the 145 types based there.

The real problem is tiny-sac owners like you who are noobs, FNGs, et.al. at some other regional. You ask everyone to sacrafice for the profession, while alot of us have mortages and families to support. I remember when I was young and single. I could take low pay, live in a crummy apartment, and work my ass off to get hours. I would go out to the clubs, find some chick to knock the bottom out of, wakeup the next day and nurse a hangover. It's funny how things change. I have a wife, kid, and mortgage. I look at some guys who are in their 40's on the street or New Hires here because there ain't anything else going on, sans the golden tickets at FedEx, UPS, and SWA. I left CAL out on purpose, because the pay is retarted low, compared to what I make at my bottom-feeder now.

So your empty and implied insult has no teeth. You got on at XJT. Good for you, it's a good company. Just remember some other people haven't had the fortune you did.

It's far better just to learn your job, and not piss off your CA, then waste time on this drivel and shooting dumbass insults.

2 years ago it was a no-no...recently I heard it might be at least allowed. Dont hold me to that. I'd be up front and call them to find out.

RRRR, somebody's sensitive. Can we get a Waaaaambulance? And how have you not had "good fortune" at Chat-caca? You're taking over the "regional world" under the guidance and divine hand of reverend bedford, screwing everyone else (like all those chicks at the club, right?) over in the process. How is that not good (for you)? You want us to sob for you because you make 1-2 dollars less per hour due to a contract your own pilots negotiated? I guess that's the price of growth, that and being the butt of all your contemperaries' jokes. If I were you I would not even want to read F.I. at all, unless I were a masochist.

A contract negotiated after 9/11 and we still make only a buck less and hour than every other regional, Sounds like we did one hell of a job, look at comairs new contract...how about skywest. Don't "sob" for us, your right we are taking over the regionals. Funny how three years ago no one cared much for CHQ with only 500 pilots now were the devil.

The only one screwing you is youself for not getting on with us.

Maybe so, but I'd rather work for Mesa personally. JO may be an ass, but at least he won't try to convert me.

That's just dumb. Who cares if he wants to try and convert me? As long as my paycheck shows up, and I keep my 16-18 days a month off, I sure don't care about the religous fervor.

For the record: I don't think it sucks here. I know we've hugely improved our previous contracts each time. My boss is VERY good at what he does, and has turned this company from a small t-prop operation to a company with great momentum.

I do know that some companies, who are or were wholly-owned, have (had) huge leverage during barganing. Rightfully, they should have the best contracts because they had no competition. Now employees from these companies talk to us like we're retarted, and throw out insults (mainly newbies, I know) about something they know nothing about. Most of the idiots don't even know who Bill Britt was....

then go ahead and become one of JO's valient warriors, then come back in three months and tell us how much better it is.....its funny that you make such astute observations....what grounds do you have to verbally bash BB because of his religious beliefs....does he make it very clear to the general public what his beliefs are? YES...does he try and covert us? NO....I must say this one really got me laughing....go fly for Mesa champ!

Good post man, ERJ FO represents the worst aspects of a cocky young new hire who thinks he knows it all.

Hey ERJ and Alchemy - Go F,,K Yourselves.

At 45 and a past AF pilot I came to RAH because after dragging my wife all over the world I told her to get her dream job and I'd find a way to stay in the profession that would allow me to be around more for my family. As far as any airline "stealing" work from another - grow the f..k up or move to Cuba - this is thank God a capitalist state - you want more work - go and work for it - As far as an ambulance the only one that would be needed would be for the two of you when my rugby playing ass gets a few Pints in me at some outbase - feel free to both show up at once - I bet the two of you put together would ******************** in your pants if we actually met - Big men out here - back in the old days people were challanged to a duel for less - so tell you what - Any time - Any place - I'd love the chance to meet the two of you asswipes.

Chaser

Easy cowboy. No need trying to whip up on the youngbucks, we have management to do that. Your sounding more like a Devil Dog. Tell me about RAH, I'm going to start class in a few days.

Don't blow a gasket or anything.

Seriously speaking, you can ask for a base but normally they'll send you where they need you, right now its IAH for the Continental flying, but right around corner its Republic since we have the 175's coming in january. Its all up to you and what you want to deal with. hope that helps.

Bro, I only said 5 words take a Xanax or some midol or something. Sorry for bothering you. To set the record strait I've been hear a while and I held CA on the last bid (Not that that makes means anything. I am young but I'm sorry I worked hard to get hired early so that I'm not working at a regional when I have a wife and kids. As far as everything else goes using my Flight Info membership date to determine anything about me is crazy.

You sir, need to chill out just a little bit or maybe think twice before watching "Jarhead" for the one millionth time. I don't think my post said anything about "stealing" or cuba, or ambulances. Like I said above, my post was 5 words. I don't even know what to say about you going nut-balls on me, I gotta figure though that with a name like "Cloudchaser" combined with the fact that you're 45 I'd have to be chained to a bed to get my ass kicked by you. As for your wife finding her dream job - I guess I owe you guys a few bucks, she only charged me after the first time.

I have no idea how a five word sentance can represent one aspect let alone multiple aspects of anyone. Plus how can you even say that when you have only been on the job less than six months.

Interviewing at both in the next 30 days, if you were lucky to get 2 offers which would be your choice? Priorities would be quickest upgrade, pay and stability.

We must not have hired you.

Guess what? I was young and worked hard to get here to CHQ at 22. I'm still here. I didn't think I'd be working at a regional when I had a wife and kids either. Now I make more than Captains at what used to be "step up" airlines, and I still have 15-16 days off a month. Since the majors have been lowering the bar, and we've been raising it, the black and white has changed to grey.

You are correct about the FI date. You probably got banned for being a tool, and had to spend $10 to re-up. My bad.

Here is a question for all of you guys who think turning down a class for a different plane is ok. If Continental called you and said we have a class for you in the 737 would you decline it and wait for a 757 class. Or if FedEx called for a 727 class would you say no give me a call back when a DC-10 class opens up. Seriously think about it.

For QOL issues the CRJ would be the way to go. With the seat locks and fences all throughout this place, current new hire CRJ FO's woule be able to enjoy a fantastic schedule the duration of their FO careers. To me, that would be worth the short wait for a CRJ class. Of course, I did take the first class they offered in the 145 so I guess I'm being a bit hypocritical.

For the record, I passed on two classes and took the third, I needed QOL, that meant a certain base. Good luck on your decision, they understood when I explained that I was holding out for Shuttle. Just be honest and straight forward with Linda. Trust me, this place is hurting for new F/O's if you are in, then you are in. I lost about 30 seniority numbers, but I can actually commute and not spend alot on hotels, so for me thats just fine.

Whats a step up airline? I only registered once.

Back many moons ago, before you flew airplanes, many "regionals" were called "commuters". They flew props, not any jets (well, except Horizon, but that's a different deal). As one could only make 30-40k a year, when the "majors" weren't hiring, or one wished to get the so rare TurboJet time, you had to go to a ste up. Something like a USA Jet, or Spirit or the like. There were even people that went to UPS and FedEx, to get a job at the "majors"!!!

But now, if you have a commerical cert, and a bit of time you can get the once coveted "JET" time. So it's a non-issue these days as everyone has 6000+Jet and 3000+Jet PIC
