right now people are holding captain right around 2 years. All subject to change but that is what it is currently.

really so u need only 1500 hours.
but what is the upgrade time though

The last bid closed nov 27th with 96 upgrades junior guy was a 11/15/04 hire. I was hired in dec of 06 and about 22 away on the last bid. so around 2 yrs but it depends on when the bid comes out.

Bids have been running every 2 months. I keep hearing the next one will be in Jan. We shall see.

I was near the bottom on the latest upgrade list. I will proably have less than 2800 hours when I upgrade (assuming the class date holds up and I pass training), so obviously we don't have the 3000 hour requirment that a few other places have.

And before I get the "that's scary" or "remind me not to fly that airline" comments, let me preemptively tell you to shove it.

If you pass training you are just as safe as the next guy in my opinion. We all upgrade at sometime and more FO time doens't always make you better. It may make upgrade easier, but I don't think it makes you "safer". We had guys at XJT in 2000 that were holding CA before they had ATP mins. Some were too young and others didn't have the time. CLE SRJ CA at that time was under two years and E-120 upgrades were under a year. The airline ran fine with those fellas upgrading and it will continue to run fine with two year upgrades on the 145. Congrats to all the upgrades and good luck in upgrade training!!

What a pro. Hope you won't treat your FOs like that.

Too bad when they "UPGRADE" you that they won't give you a more mature attitude.

Ha ha--lovin' it!

I sat in the left seat of the ATR at this company with 1800 hrs total time. It was alot to handle but obviously we (FO and Pax) all survived it. We should be a bit carefull here but two years should be enough time to be competent. Other companies have been upgraded guys in a year or less and have had little difficulties.
