A New Mexico woman who was kicked off an airplane departing from Burlington International Airport after she breast-fed her 22-month-old daughter has filed a complaint against two airlines with the Vermont Human Rights Commission.

Not in any hurry to get the kid off the tit, eh?

who the hell names their daughter "River"?

Breastfeeding is completely protected in public. It is without question better for the child......I won't go into the numerous reasons why - google it.

It was discreet, perfectly within her rights and she is going to get PAID. The mother handled the situation that resulted was intelligent given the post 9-11 era.

Unfortunately, because of the ignorance of a junior F/A policies and training will be changed in the future.......common sense aint common anymore.......sad

Who the hell would fly for or on MESA?

My father just asked me to book him a ticket, and at my insistence, paid $50 more for an itinerary that didn't include a Mesa flight.

The last Mesa flight I took was on an RJ in the middle of summer with an MEL'd APU, no air cart, and it took 30 minutes to board the 12 passengers. The flight attendant did what she could, passing around water that she'd been keeping in the ice, but it was totally uninhabitable. The FA said they'd been stuck without cold air for "a few days now." Ridiculous.

I had to jumpseat on MESA a few weeks ago on their CRJ-900...the FO was 20 years old and only had 230 hours when he was hired in the spring. He told me all about his “Accelerated training” and 40 hours in the CRJ sim Texas. The kid could barely talk on the radios…I am glad that it was not his leg to fly. Making the big bucks at MESA! Living the dream and endangering passengers lives!

My thoughts exactly. How about if the kid was four or five? There are women who nurse their children at that age. Starts to get creepy. If the kid can hold a "sippy cup", he's too old to nurse.
