Dear Pilot Applicant for First Officer:

Thank you for your interest in Pacific Wings Airline. Pacific Wings Airline is a Maui, Hawaii based airline and have been in business for over 30 years. We currently fly 5-Cessna Grand Caravans. Although Caravan experience is a plus, it is not necessary to join our core of pilots. We are looking for highly motivated pilots that can handle passengers, baggage, customer service issues, and are willing to put in the effort to make Pacific Wings Airline a great airline. We are currently offering a unique First Officer program.

You must be a FAA certified pilot and be able to work in the United States of America. You must meet this requirement to work for Pacific Wings Airline.

You would be hired as a ramper and customer service agent, and fly as a First Officer. You would be paid an hourly rate for all scheduled activities.

Once hired, you would be trained in the customer service side of the business and act in that capacity for a period of 30 days. At the successful completion of this period, you would be reviewed for recommendation for flight training. You will be required to sign a one-year pro-rated training contract. Flight training would be about 3 weeks ending with a 135 check ride.

Once you have completed your training and past the check ride, you are eligible to fly as a First Officer for Pacific Wings. You will be scheduled to fly the line one day per week and work ramp and customer service the rest (there are sometimes more fly the line days but not guaranteed). Each line would be approx. 6 hours of flight time.

Our minimum requirements for First Officer are: Commercial SEL, and Instrument Airplane. You must be an active pilot and current on instrument skills. We will train you how to fly a Caravan; we will not train you how to fly instruments.

When you reach our minimum requirements for Captain, you may be eligible to upgrade as soon as a slot opens ups.

Our minimum requirements for Captain are per 135.243: Commercial SEL, and Instrument Airplane, 1200 Total Time, 500 hours of cross country, 100 hours of night, and 75 hours of actual or simulated instrument.

We provide full medical at no expense after the first 30-60 days of employment. Spouses, children, and dental coverage are extra. We offer Vacation and Holiday benefits, and a 401K. As a First Officer, you also have jumpseat and non-rev privileges with several major airlines.

We are constantly recruiting to find the absolute best candidates as our airline grows. We know that your experience here will be rewarding and valuable. If you wish to interview for a First Officer position, please make your way to the beautiful island of Maui, and contact me via email.

I heard that some of their pilots have gotten on at FedEx recently. Sounds like a good deal to me.

i flew there as a captain- it was fun most everyone you work with is cool- the airplanes are good- the islands are incredible... but for an fo- id say run like he!! and so would most who have been there... you wont fly much, you have to load bags and kiss a$$ to a punk little ba$tard who is the owners gay lover if you want to fly... then if your lucky- you may get to fly a bit. but if you have a myspace page- you better set it to private so the gay kid cant find a reason to fire you... like saying hes gay ha ha ha what a tool!!! other than that it was fun!!!!

I had an offer there in the past, but I turned it down b/c of the pay. It's just hard to believe that 2300 a month will pay for much in Hawaii

I think this about says it all. 80for80 is smoking crack. There's nothing good about that job, except the view. And go!express is gonna take their biz anyway.

Mmmuwahahahahahaha!!!

Mokulele to file for DOT subsidized routes in Hawaii

Mokulele Airlines (Go! Express) (Kailua-Kona) is preparing to file for subsidized air service authority to smaller airports in Hawaii now served by PW. Two of the cities include Hana (but the road trip to Hana is better!) on the east end of Maui and Waimea on the Big Island. Meanwhile PW is objecting and has asked for an investigation on what they believe is the improper use of the Go! Express name.
......

I heard that some of their pilots have gotten on at FedEx recently. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Now that's the real joke here. Certainly a Caravan pilot in Maui is more qualified for a FedEx job than an experienced regional FO fighting t'storms, icy runways, congested airports, etc, right? It's all about that PIC time.

Well at least it sounds better then Mesa.

They get on with FEDEX feeders flying the caravan again.

I don't know of any X PW's pilots that went on to fly for FX feeders (not that they couldn't if they wanted to). And I do know LOTS of X PW's pilots!!!

I interviewed with them about a year and half ago.... I was young, stupid and just thought hey! I can make it on $8/hr out there (by the way they give you a .50 cent raise after 90 days - wooohooo!). Went out for the interview and was offered the job but every fo I talked to seemed pissed off and ready to jump ship to anything that came along. Sadly, I doubt many regionals will hire an fo if all their time in the last 6 months or so has been right see on a Caravan.

Looking back, had I been debt free and loved the islands I might have thought about taking the job more but I am glad I didn't. Oh, and FYI, most fo's only log around 35 to 45 hrs per month from my understanding and most don't even work for PW 40 hrs a week. So a lot have to get 2nd jobs on the side to help make ends meet. Like I said, if you are debt free, love the islands - go for it - I am sure it's great flying....
