Interview coming up. Pros/Cons?

Search the 300 other threads about Comair and you'll figure it out.

If you have a pulse and have seen an airplane before you shouldn't have a problem. They have recently lowered the minimums to 600/100 and are offering $500 to any referrals so you ab initio whiz kids that can make it through training and actually stay for six months feel free to contact me to walk in your resume and I'll split the 5 nickels with you 70/30. Good goes around!

I've had the same dilemma, it could really go either way at Comair right now. I have offers at both Comair and ExpressJet right now and it's become a real tough decision, one I'll have to make in the coming days...

Comair has the highest pay scale right now and their pay freeze is about to end in the New Year, but then again they might be forced to take a pay cut to about the same level as XJT, Eagle and the other big regionals. Same with their work rules and benefits.

Then again my buddy at CMR tells me that Delta is gonna fatten them up to sell them off, that they might even bid for non-Delta flying with NWA or other majors and the upgrade time could go down by half with all the pilots they're losing and the 70 seaters possibly coming online.

It's nice to have options, though.

I love the always-misleading "average pilot" salary quoted in that article. How many Comair FO's, let alone new hires, are making the "average" of $59,600?

Good luck, Comair pilots. And DX Rick, think carefully about what you are getting into.

Im on 2nd year pay and i'll easily make $52,000.00, nothing too be proud of just not that hard to make here

I believe it. 2nd year FO's at ACA/Indy would make over 50K on their W2's. The contracts and pay were pretty much even between Comair and ACA.

Not to be at all the a$$hole, but where is ACA/Indy now? I will tell any other person looking to go there now just like I would tell someone at ASA. Be careful. But at the same time dont whore yourself or the industry with those that would be considered "less desirable" airlines.

just havent updated my times thats all....
Who cares?

And HOW MUCH does a 2nd year FO make at Comair? $50k a year pre-tax? What're they flying? 100 hour months?

Rule #1: Never make a career decision, especially at a regional, based on what is supposed to, might, rumored to, etc. happen. Make the decision based on the current state of affairs at the company.

Very interesting. I'm glad to hear that you are making that much. And I reallly do hope that you guys make it through your current situation with your pay and benefits still pretty much intact.

You're absolutely right, I'm coming from 135 and I have a lot to learn about the snake-pit of politics at Pt 121 carriers especially the regionals. But that's the thing, both ExpressJet and Comair could go either way, this is such an awkward, pivotal time for them both. I believe the next few weeks and months could be decisive and looks like I'll have to take a gamble one way or the other and let the chips fall where they may.

Not without sacraficing your days off to pick up extra flying! No thanks! I value my life away from this place!

It might be possible if you're JFK based. 2:50 to go from JFK to ALB because our ramp is so terrible there.

Not to worry, a team from the g.o. was sent to make it all better. 'Course they did the same thing when Comair first got to ATL.

If you would like to see a furlough letter next year come on over the water's fine. We currently have 170+ airplanes, Company says it could go down to as low as 100 airplanes on property. We lost 30+ in Nov with more to follow.

I am a 2nd year FO at Comair...JFK based. I DO NOT pick up any extra flying at all, my YTD on my pay stub is just over $39,500....with all the BS going on in JFK on the ramp...most of the trips you can add 3-5 hours pay onto your trip. Usually never get paid for less then 90 hours. Enjoy it while it lasts...the ship is sinking and fast.

stay away from comair!! RESERVE 4+Yrs.

If you want to be on reserve for 4 years come on over, I cant believe nobody has posted that yet. It should be illegal what 16 schedulers can do to you. I dont even get notified anymore, show up for a flight that CX last night not even a call??
