October 30, 2006 SkyWest, which operates regional air service for United Airlines and Delta Air Lines, said its third quarter earnings rose 35 percent on higher passenger revenue.
The feeder airline said net profit in the quarter rose to USD$40.7 million from $30.1 million in the year-ago period.
Revenue rose 59 percent to USD$791.8 million because of added capacity and increased reimbursements from its airline partners to cover higher jet fuel costs.
The company, based in St. George, Utah, operates SkyWest and Atlantic Southeast Airlines, which it acquired last year from Delta, as wholly-owned subsidiaries.
SkyWest ended the quarter with cash and marketable securities of USD$595 million, up from USD$324.5 million at the end of last year.
