The Beech rocks. The success rate for upgrade is much higher in the Beech than in the SAAB. In addition the success rate for Beech Captains transitioning to the SAAB is higher than the success rate for FO's upgrading in the SAAB. Things that make you go hmmmm?

The Beech rocks. Flies like a fighter...stops on a dime and will give you change. Carries whatever you can fit in it, and has never let me down. Love the PT6.

Nothing beats the A model engines.... What r they again CT-5B?

For my money, nothing beats the CT-7s for the Cold & Low airports.

By the way, have you Colganites heard any specifics as to where the SAABs will be flying out of CLE?

No clue. I thought Colgan would need three planes if they were going to be replacing Regions.

I heard it will be 2 SAABs for the CLE operation with one of the runs to CRW. Supposedly, this commences in Febraury of next year.

In Regards to ORD someone asked Tom in last Thursday's conference call if there was any truth to the ORD rumor. He said the plane that went up there was to train ground crews not to start operations. Remember ORD is a big training base for United so it may have nothing to do with operations up there. Sounds like there is little truth to any operations starting for Colgan up there. All rumors....

Pretty weak explanation

Do you really believe that? What good would it do to train a few ORD rampers once a year on a plane that they supposedly will never see? How in any way will that help train the employees that really do work on them? Either Tom doesn't know what is going on or he's playing the misinformation game until it's public.

Who knows...maybe it will happen....We can all dream right?

I hears the ramp training was for supervisors....the ones who train out at the outstations.......

Maybe Colgan is as big as the Colgans want it. Just 4 years ago they had 6 SAABS and like 15 1900's. They are considerably larger now. Success is not always judged by the size of the company.

I think Colgan would have trouble staffing new planes anyway. The other regionals are hiring at the same mins. Why would some 24 year old pilot want to come to Colgan when he could be in a small jet? 20 month upgrade in the SAAB now...

Because Colgan ROCKS! And yeah send a Saab so some person can put a bag in the back,,, that makes a lot of sense. Something is up and I for one am not dumb enough to just think it was a training class at ORD. If it was then o well, but I am now under the influnece that it is something else.

I hope upgrade goes to 5 years I love it. I thrive on the negativity. They can fly their piece of crap little toy jets. The Saab kicks ass. I love being an FO and knowing more than the captain and flying better.

the current upgrade is longer than twenty months. not by much but it is. a guy getting hired right now at the current flow rate would upgrade in 3-4 years. unless there is growth.

Now that isn't a very good carrot to get someone to chase.

Colgan is going to furlough is what I heard. Contential is dropping us and Express Jet is taking over using some of those airplanes they were going to lose and start their own little charter thingy. Check out Aviation news on the google aviation page just saw it 5 minutes ago. We are all screwed BAD!

That's strange.. especially considering that I have flown with 2 captains who recently upgraded, both of which were at Colgan for 15 months. Your estimate of current upgrade time is inaccurate.

whatever dude. current upgrades are april 05. that means about 20 months. tho that new schedule thingy is tentative so it will prolly be longer.
