its called the 797. Two aisles & 199 pax. The return of the 10 minute turn.

This rumor has been going around for months.. I heard that SWA, CAL, and AAI were envited to SEA to help boeing decide what airlines were looking for in a replacement for the 737.. That would make sense since I believe they are the 3 biggest opperators of small boeing jets in the U.S....

Wonder why that is? Could it be due to the inability to stretch the 195 any furthur?

I think thats exactly it. Ideally, you want and airplane that will be the same fleet for everything from 100 seats up to about 180-190 The 195 is already at the upper limit for that type aircraft. To buy them would mean you have to have a differenty type for anything larger than about 110 seats. I think the same issue will prevent Delta from buying any 190/195s. They may buy a few to tide them over till the 737 replacement is available, but certainly not in large numbers.

Hey Lowecur, I'm still looking for that order....

Word is NWA is talking with Boeing about this new type as a DC9 replacement. They claim they don't want to use EMB-195s.

American has a boatload of MD-80s to replace one of these days as well, not to mention all of the 73s out there.

NWA will want to use the EMB pay scales though!

Yeah, they negotiated three different pay rates for a/c in this range: one generic 77-100 seats, one generic 101 to 110 seats and one specific to the EMB-195. (EMB-195 falls between the two generics.) They all suck really bad and are much lower than the already reduced DC-9 rates.

Welcome to the new B-scale. The only difference is that now you could be displaced onto the B-scale instead of only being hired onto it.

Hey, as long as Boeing doesnt cave and alllow Mullet jogging Suit Airlines, i mean Southwest, to bolt in the current 737 overhead panel, display analog instruments on a full glass setup and disable autothrottles/VNAV, theyll have a great airplane!

Man, you are funny! I mean it! You should do a comedy tape or something, we could all pass it around and listen to it in our El Caminos. Mullet jogging Suit Airlines... Can I use that? Gawd that is funny.

I thought it was kinda funny, but I think he was referring to your passengers. Maybe you protest a bit too much?

BTW, if it makes you feel better, I've always thought the Mullet was hugely under-appreciated, and I've always liked El Caminos more than Rancheros (but I gotta admit, they're both pretty cool.)
