ALPA is a Pilot's Union/Association. It is run by pilots for pilots...warts and all. The IBT is strictly a workers union, there to negotiate your pay and benefits. It's involvement in Aviation is limited to the representation of the pilot group. They have little or no influence on issues of aviation safety nor are they involved in the influence of making federal policies, as ALPA is and continues to be. Big difference.

I've been represented by both unions. I'm not very impressed with the IBT.

Good luck!

Any news on a new hire class for November? Anyone?

Guys it seems to me this is really simple. Things here at PSA suck. Nobody is arguing that. Is it because Teamsters weren't here? No. Its because this pilot group did not get to vote on anything, not because we're ALPA. Mainline and PSA management are the enemy, not ALPA. Think about it, we as individuals make up ALPA. Any union is only as strong as its members and its contract. Our contract sucks because the guys trying to organize teamsters signed it after membership voted no!

For those wanting Teamsters, why not focus your efforts on helping unite this group as a show of strength to management. What you are doing is only contributing to further dividing us, and management is loving it. Is that what you want?

Ask any Laker how they feel about the IBT. Their response will be eye opening to say the least.

Lets all pull together...and win together...to do that we don't need the IBT. IBT will only create divisiveness amongst the rank and file.

What do you know about the Lakes/IBT anyhow? I don't work at Lakes, but do know a little about the RLA(Railway Labor Act for those who don't know)

A union can only do so much, their are two sides at the table. Lakes/IBT asks management for a pay raise and QOL issues. Management says no to everything and I mean everything! So the RLA takes it's course to the NMB, along the way they manage to get a TA together that get voted down and rightfully so. While at the NMB management says no to everything again, and the Lakers/IBT asks to be released to strike, management says it will shut down if they do that. The NMB says no to the release, so there they sit staring at each other. So how did the Teamsters do them wrong? They can't force the NMB to do anything. Both sides agreed to arbitration after about 6 yrs of staring at each other and they ended up with the failed TA. Once again do you think that ALPA could have done something different?

Word is Day is: No new-hire classes until end of Frist Quarter of 2007. Not enough room in the sims due to recurrent classes, and a couple planes are going down for heavy Mx come begining of 2007.

Heard this from Rachael.

You guys cant be serious. This is the worst time to change unions. We just demonstrated that we can with a decent majority voice vote down a BS side letter. Now some of you want to totally change unions to a non aviation union because of ALPA? Thats gay! Take the lessor of two evils ie ALPA. At least they are pilots.

Secondly, ALPA sucks right now because of you know who. Hopefully he will be voted out and we will have a new ALPA leader. You never know, it might make a difference and it might not, but this is the WORST time to do this. LAME!!!! LAME!!!!

Oh and Dougie can keep his 900's can we stop talking about them now? PLEASE!!!!!! I BEG YOU!!!

Thanks for the heads up.

We don't need no stinking 900's.

But we do need some longer legs, this CLT - GSO is a waste of time.
I am sure the company gets paid the same no matter the length. But
for us it sure is tough for us to make some $$$ on 20 min legs.
Maybe next contract we should have a minimum of 1 hr pay for any leg.
This would cut down the 7 leg days!
