i got some video of it from the roof of my building(8 blocks away)....i think every firetruck in the city is there....its pretty crazy....lots of helo's and ambulances and stuff.....one lady that lives here was on the roof crying b/c she got scared on 9/11....i hope it really was an accident and not some nut that has just made a lot of people nervous and our insurance to all go up.....i hope no one got hurt that wasn't in the plane. whew...

Whats gonna really suck is that they may close that VFR corridor down the Hudson and East river. No more sight seeing tours. If this is found to be suspicious at all, they'll prohibit flight into NYC's harbor and up the rivers.

MSNBC reporter just said "it was a small plane and it made a sudden turn...when small planes do that the can loose altitude...it is a common problem with small planes"

Gawd!!

Pilot eye witness claims plane was at 800' in a tight turn. News reporter says" It wasn't a helicopter, but a "fixed" aircraft"

Pet lover perhaps?

Gawd!!

Tom Costello on MSNBC a few minutes ago was trying to answer questions about the VFR chute and was totally making up answers as he went...it's almost comical.

good thing i had my opportunity to cruise up and down the Hudson a few times at 800 - 1000 agl, some of the coolest flying i have ever done.... i can see how this could put a serious crimp in being able to do just that.... there is a guy on Fox right now screaming for aircraft flying along the VFR corridors being banned or seriously restricted..... its a shame!!!

Fox reporting the plane was a Cirrus sr22 registered to Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle.

You would think that with as much coverage as they give aviation incidents, that they would at least hire 'experts' with an inkling of knowledge. I'm sure many of us would do it for a small sum.
