Yes, actually they called me today. Wanted me to confirm that you could spell "got", and after numerous post's. I don't think you gat hired.

I'm sorry already for pointing that out. It just gat me riled up.

Good luck seriously.

I interviewed on a Monday Tuesday, got a call Friday, and was in Dallas on Sunday.

Yeah, they will get you in fast I'd guess. They are really having a hard time filling newhire classes. We are very short, they know it, and they are supposedly trying to redouble their efforts to hire more folks. They are dropping the COG test from the interview so I guess "gat" is acceptable! JK becks, good luck.

welcome to the reserve list.....don't plan on getting off of it for a looong time...unless u go to san juan...
Wow, what base is that? Out of IOE at ORD I will hold a line.

The only line you'll hold in ORD is a RESERVE (RSV) line.
Well I guess that if you consider the composite there a reserve(which many do) then yes, but you have to remember that they are losing about 30 guys a month at ORD, which keeps the reserve times shorter there. Right now the most junior guy at ORD is holing a composite line. Which many would argue is a lot better than sitting airport reserve or even reserve at home, at least you know your schedule before hand, and you are able to get a lot of the days off that you want.

o yea the 530am ready reserve has your name written all over it.....sorry to sound hostile im just a little bit over reserve and "airport reserve"

Out of IOE at ORD I will hold a line.

This is nonsense and so is your claim that ORD is losing 30 guys per month. At that rate ORD would be empty unless EVERY new hire went there. There are 242 hard lines in ORD and 298 f/o's. If you think you are going in at the bottom and shooting up to #242 in two months then you are dreaming. I have been here almost three years and moved up about fifty slots in base. That's all, in almost three years.

When there are f/o openings in any base, most of them will be filled by guys SENIOR to you transferring to that base thereby pushing you DOWN in base. An opening does NOT necessarily mean that you move up. You only move up if the person who fills the slot is junior to you.

If you are awarded a reserve line, you have the option at the time of bidding to have that line converted to a composite at the company's choosing which is why many of the bottom guys have composite lines. ALSO, remember that composite lines ALWAYS contain reserve days, and the junior composites may sometimes A LOT of reserve days.

You're still in training so why not just worry about getting out of training and through IOE instead of worrying about holding a line right away... which will not happen. I'm not sure who is feeding you all this stuff.

Eagle is a GREAT place to work if you are not looking for PIC time (we all know that upgrades are non-existent) and don't mind being the company biatch (reserve) for a while.

It always cracks me up when some guy in training who heard a rumor tries to pass it off as fact.

I work at Eagle and am based in ORD. I'm letting you know to expect at LEAST 6 months on reserve. Once you hold a line it's probably the best regional job out there, but it's gonna sting a bit for that reserve run. Best of luck to you.

Everyone from the last three classes have been sent to ORD, and right now the most junior guy there is holding a composite line. If holding a hard line is only a 6th month wait that would still be a lot better than most other regionals, and I am not worried about holding a line, I live about ten minutes from ORD so reserve does not worry me too much. Just trying to pass on what I thought to be true, but either way I am very happy with this place. I can not think of any other place that would have worked out as well for me.

There's 26 people on the reserve list total in ORD this month and that's out of almost 300 lines. During the last 2 years I was a reserve FO in ORD here, and there was always 45-50. And that was no picnic, let me tell you.

They aren't holding a line out of IOE, they are getting a fallback composite line. It's indicitive of the woeful staffing and those same people won't hold a hard line for a year. After all the lines are given out, if they have too much flying still unaccounted for then they create fallback composite lines. While this is better than reserve, the cause is a bad thing. Don't be fooled into thinking that you will jump right into a line because that is misleading at best. Also, not everyone from the last 3 classes went to ORD. You can read the breakdowns on www.eaglelounge.com.

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's better to know what's really happening than to spread misinformation and false hopes. Now that I've said all of the negatives, let me say that I'm very happy here and so long as you are comfortable staying where you are for a while, which it sounds like you are, then you will be too.

Its always nice to hear from someone who knows. Like I said I live only a few minutes from ORD so the reserve time does not bother me, espically if it is composite lines, are you based in ORD?

Many "composite" lines may only have one or two trips scheduled within them.

The majority of your next year or two will involve quick call outs and frequent ready reserves.

I can understand you're intoxicated at the thought of being an airline pilot, but that WILL wear off. Try not to look at yourself in the mirror too much when wearing your uniform. On the other hand, strut through the terminal like a pro..........after all, you're living the dream and the big bucks are sure to follow.............................:)

Ready reserve? That sounds nice. Kinda like some sort of whiskey.
