Noticed there were 20 vacancies on the CR7 (gee, I wonder why???!!) in Atlanta and only 2 filling it on the prelim (1 of those is a 50 captain???). No reductions on any seat. How do they fill this? A newhire class?

I sure hope nobody voluntarily bids this, since why would you bid a position that you know you're going to get displaced from?

Can't be a newhire class, SH said in his memo that there won't be one until Spring 2007. Management wouldn't lie to us, right?

Could it be all the SLC FO's movin' on the Skywest? My guess is that there will not be displacements on the 70 FO side since anybody in their right mind that can't hold a CA slot would bid to the 50 as an FO. I mean I know the pay on the 70 as an FO is lavish, bordering on obscene, but the schedules on the 50 are way better and you might even qualify for food stamps if you have a large enough family. Can I claim Grandma as a dependent?

LAX is in serious staffing trouble. I wonder why. A comparable apartment is double what is in ATL. Anything cheaper and you best become an FFDO so you can at least fire back. Either that or endure a 2 hour drive.

So, when they junior assign LAX does it come from the bottom of the seniority list or the bottom of the 50 list? When will these guys get to come back to ATL? What happens if a newhire gets ATL after you've been jr manned to LAX? Do you get a paid move both ways?

The only solution I see is a new hire class, since they have no say in their first assignment.

I guess this is all talk because as soon as Skywest figures out their out to the "no compete" clause with United, we will be outta there. That might happen sooner than later since I've seen nothing the operation out there from management other than SH Q and A's several months ago.

I actually see LAX working out allot better for ASA than you may think. Don't forget that UAL is the bread and butter for SKW, not DL. UAL/SKW have a major operation on the west coast incl. LAX. JA is not going to do anything to even potentially piss off the UAL side of the house. The only way JA can expand the operation for DL in the west (outside SLC) is through ASA.

You act like you know what you're talking about. All the LAX positions so far have been filled by decently senior people. I'm sure some people are waiting to see if it'll grow before they move over. We have a lot of commuters. If LAX goes junior then people will commute there for a quicker upgrade.

The no-compete clause is solid. SH was talking about how if we win the Frontier RFP for 70's out of Denver then ASA will get those too since SKYW cant fly them. Same clause.

Exactly. Which is why he bought ASA. They're just trying to get all the money out of us that they can before the majors start making money again. Doom and gloom!

Any idea of when DL and Frontier will announce the RFP awards?

....yes, I believe his cowboy boots are on too tight and are restricting blood flow to his brain.

Should be fun day to sort through all of the threads that are over 1 year old now.
