If the Marriott West is sold out (we always stay there) I've heard the Great Wall Sheridan isn't too bad...

I've stayed at the Sheraton Great Wall...its a good hotel but I wouldn't recommend the Italian restaurant there...it was pretty bad..they do have an excellent chinese restaurant (go figure) located on one of the upper floors.

I've also stayed at the Grand Hyatt..excellent hotel..hands down one of the best hotels I've ever stayed at... I don't remember the rate we got exactly..i believe we were in the 200-250USD range..crew rate...just looking at their website and they have rates of 180-200USD..you should get better with crew rates.

Have your handler set up a car for your Griswold tour of Beijing...for about 100 USD, driver will take you to Great Wall, Forbidden city, Tiannamen Square and the big shopping Building.. where you can get watches, electronics, pearls, clothing, etc...i don't know if it has a name but everyone seems to know about, 3 floors, 1st floor electronic/watches, 2nd floor clothes, 3rd floor jewellery/pearls..black pearls are good out there.

I highly recommend using Grand Hyatts in any of the major cities in Asia...you won't be disappointed.
