I know this company has been debated several times on this board, but I thought I'd post anyway in case someone is interested.

Yum! is advertising for a CP and CA again in Louisville, KY.

Never Seems to End!?!?!?

Something just doesn't seem right about this gig:confused: .
I know they're are those out there who say this is a first rate place to be but c'mon another new listing for a Captain and one for a CP too!!!!!!
Sure would be nice to hear a first hand account about whats really going on at YUM.

Relocation Provided: No

Sounds like a first class operation.

Reading the article in Pro Pilot, it sure sounds like you're gone a heck of a lot. Maybe that's part of the problem.

Maybe they just got another plane?

They fly out of HPN also, don't they?

I thought their bases were Louisville and Orange County.

Our 3 campuses are SDF, SNA and ADS.

Chief pilot stepped down to become just a captain. No reason to read into his decision. He is a great guy just did not like the workload as a Chief Pilot but will do great as a pilot. the other captain position has been around for awhile, we just have not found the right person and really they were not in a rush in SDF to get someone as one plane has been down for mx., and paint and the other will be going in right after. so it was not a big rush to hire someone to sit around. And the big thing, none of us in SNA really wanted to move to SDFfor the chief pilot job. Can you blame us- Louisville or Orange county?!?!?!

for all of the naysayers, so that you can plan ahead to post here in the summer. I think that we will be having one of our old-timers retire this summer so I am sure HR will start posting again for another pilot during the summer. I do have to say, it sure is funny reading what most of you write about YUM!. I will go to bat for YUM and all of our pilots any day. It is a great company to work for. It was just a weeding out process after all three flight departments merged into one. As I said before we had 3 different processes before we became YUM and now it is one (but 3 different campuses), and some of the pilots could not adapt to change.

see ya.

Capt601--Do not take offense at the questions. "Generally" if a job is posted out ther for more than a nano-second there are questions about the quality of the job. Not always, but generally.

No one here can know what the QOL is at YUM (other than what we read in Pro Pilot and we all know PP isn't exactly hard-hitting investigative journalism at its finest... ) without knowing anyone on the inside.

If you can help us out by giving us some details about day to day life, someone in the SDF area might be lurking out there and apply. Thanks!TC

"campuses"???-- someone has been drining some yummy cool-aid :)

yeah, they make us drink the red kool-aid every morning at the office. And we wear YUM! underwear with the logo printed right in the middle!!( my wife loves those)

The "campus" thing was just the companies way of separating each one of the 3 flight departments without calling each one by which company they used to mainly support ie..Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and KFC. The company is real big on us being YUM! and not the individual brands. We don;t fly for one brand anymore but for all of YUM!.
AA717Driver, I will reply to your posting after Michigan State gets done whipping the North Carolina Girls this evening!!! Go State!!!!

Will YUM be hiring into the G200 as well? Are pilots cross-qualified on both aircraft or do they stick to one type?

HAHAHAHAAH in that case they should hire me as a DEC.

Yes, are company policy is to have a flight attendant or flight engineer on every flight. The last two pilots who weren't qualified on one of the planes in SDF went to G-200 or CL-601 school, so everyone there now is qualified on both planes.

Gohost rider64, actually they do a retina scan at each of our restaurants to see if any applicants are eating there. They like to see you spread around your caloric intake at each one of the brands. and if they see you eating too much at KFC they give you a cholesterol test during the interview!!!

So far this year in the first 3 periods that we have records, I have flown about 90 hours, others are at 100, 43 and 44. The first period started the last week of December and the last day of the third period was March 19th. So 1 period is basically 4 weeks, just not on the normal schedule. I have flown maybe 20 ours since the end of the last period. I have flown on 8 out of 24 weekend days so far this year. That is pretty rare for us out in SNA as we don;t normally fly on the weekends like the SDF planes do. I have been on 15 RON's this year and flown on 28 duty days. All pretty average for out here in SNA.

Last year I flew 370 hours(which was the second most among our 4 pilots here, the most was around 385.), 98 duty days, 73 RON's and 20 out of 104 weekend days worked. So everyone flies pretty much the same throughout the year. this year will probably average out to be the same.

We do have different job duties around the hangar, such as training, safety, fuel program, jepps, etc.. Most of us go into the office on days we aren;t flying. We aren't in the office 8-5, it is more or less when you show up and if you have things to get done, which is quite often. But, if you don't have anything to do or can get it done at home, we don't go into office. I will say, the job is not for someone who just expects to fly and go home and do nothing to contribute to the company or department. But if you enjoy working with great guys and gals and enjoy making contributions to a flight department, than it is a great job.
