What are you thinking, Kevin? Have you no shame? Get back on the horse or put it away and go home! Sticking to the topic. Good grief. Now really, where do you stand on this whole Vne thing, anyway?

Vse...the limiting velocity of spam. Sort of makes a subsonic splut sound when it hits something. Spam. It's not just for breakfast, any more.

STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT

I'm taking my post back. no bickering now!

Ahem-i delete all the penis enlargement emails i get and i live with it. thank god its only a few a day. but you make it possible lrjcaptain, its legalized hacking. but its still elgal and youre making money. Good for you. really i mean it.

its good youre finding another way to supplement your flying income. lord knows i would be doing the same thing if i had the opportunity. im at least real with myself about that.

now why dont you sell that talent to the software people you keep hacking and double your profits? could sell em stuff and then hack your stuff and make money off that...its what 'Cincinatti Microwave' did with making the radar gun for police then inventing the 'fuzz-buster' right after it. self sufficient business.

NOW FOR THE REST OF US!
please continue discussion on your own personal side business that you started to supplement your flying income. refer to post #1 and please respond. im really wanting to start something before long and would love to hear how well it did or didnt go over for all of you when you tried.

I really like that idea of a BBQ place near a corporate pilot infested airport. just make sure it dosent embarass what BBQ stands for.

i wouldn't want to go to Vne in any airplane i have ever flown, or have my family on any aircraft close to that speed. if you have ever seen or smelled an aircrash you would agree

Too late, you probably already have. In a turbine powered aircraft Vne is established at the speed that would be considered Vno, top of the green, in a piston aircraft. When they hang an Allison on the front of a Bonanza top of the green on the ASI becomes the new redline.

We cruise just far enough under the barber pole (Vne and Vmo, whicever is limiting) to prevent the overspeed horn from sounding. In the descent we keep it at the pole. In the terminal area we keep it at the pole. You can keep the aircraft at Vne until the outer marker and still have the runway made. It's just how turboprops keep up.

I don't know if you you were involved with a crash of an RV that developed flutter something, but that is much more likely to be induced by an out of balance control surface than sheer speed.

I'll cancel the 7500 squawk, and note that building T-hangars is a great way to lose tens of thousands of dollars.

side jobs

I haven't been hired yet, but I'm trying to get started brokering airplanes so that if I ever get that dream job flying RJs for 21 bucks an hour, I'll still be able to feed my family and pay the mortage.

Also, I'm a reporter for a small newsletter in DC that covers the military and do freelance writing for some publications. Freelancing is a bad business to go into unless you're already pretty established, so I wouldn't recommend it.

There are some pretty successful pilots out there with lucrative "side jobs." That SOB Kit Darby comes to mind, and the president and vice president of ATP are a FedEx Captain and TWA FO, respectively.

some listings

i found at one time a website for the UPS pilot community. It had all the side businesses that some of the UPS pilots owned. Ranging from small stores and shops to restaurants. Theres a few of the pilots whose wives have real-estate licenses and focus on pilot relocation only. perfect i thought.

What it really means is don't p!ss off Lrjtcaptain.

Your computer may not ever work again.

Lrjtcaptain, does your friend pay attention to the vigilantes and those on the opt-out lists? Or are those just fun to spam on principle?

****

Side Businesses: I know a lot of authors and bartenders. A few run the only fuel service on the airport (selling fuel makes money). Others run on-demand charters during fire's off season.

we dont sweat any isp backbone or user. The way we have most of it set up now is its an almost foolproof method. Any complaints to our hosting usually gets redirected back to us before it gets to them. IM not willing to discuss that though. My name is no where in any of this stuff but hes been put on spews before and i took him right back off. as for companies like spamcop....give me a break. those people are a **CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED****CENSORED**ing joke. The funny thing is is that they spam to get people to buy there software. How pitifull is that?

Lrjtcaptain

You must drive a VW Jetta. I could see that! My girlfriend just bought one. My mom has one too.

due to the fact that i haven't broken into the industry yet with an actual job getting paid to fly i have started and run several of my own businesses.

i created my own Fly Tying company "Bass-bugger Flies" when i was young *14 years old* which started me in the fishing industry. this business is much smaller now but i still supply several shops and also sale across the country.

two years ago i started my current business as a kayak fishing guide "Paddle & Pole Kayak Fishing". this job doesn't get much better. take a person out fishing, enjoying the sun and water, and then get paid for it. hopefully it'll expand into something more soon.

Moonshine boyz - get up in them hills - good thing Allegheny still has these outstation bases. Apparently you can easily sell it to the Philly rampers.

Cardinal,

Too late, you probably already have. In a turbine powered aircraft Vne is established at the speed that would be considered Vno, top of the green, in a piston aircraft. When they hang an Allison on the front of a Bonanza top of the green on the ASI becomes the new redline.

That's not the case. It may have been a decision on the STC for the Bonanza, but it doesn't apply to turbine airplanes in general. Vne really is Vne.

As for this idea that near Vne an airplane breaks up and *then* experiences a 20 G load...poppycock.

>>>>>>When they hang an Allison on the front of a Bonanza top of the green on the ASI becomes the new redline.

Hmmm, I had a friend who had gven some instruction in an allison bonanza and he had told me the opposite, that the barber pole was placed at the previous Vne, and that the airplane cruised in the airspeed range which had previously been the yellow arc. Couldn't say for sure which story is correct.

regards

what exact point in the sequence of failure are you calling breakup? for the sake of my point, let's say when the elevator/h stab departs the plane. Loose the tail feathers (initial breakup) and the plane will either go negative and or spin violently. Wing(s) can fail easily if it goes negative (secondary breakup). in the process of this rapid negative pitching action or spin, hi g's are experienced. At least that's the way it looked when I saw one come apart.

Wow! This thread has changed form since it began.
What does this VNE discussion have to do with side business's?
Lrjtcaptain's quote is kinda funny yet its true. If the air is calm, why not get as close to or if not VNE. I know my pax like it when I get them to the airport early or on time.

Hey Bluffs4u-Whats your beef with Lrjtcaptain? You old buddies or something?

Hey Lrjtcaptain-I have a friend that does a little of the unsolicited email and makes good money. Some of it is a bit unethical but sometimes you gotta make money to live right? He doesn't do that porn crap but it doesn't sound like you do either. Oh well. I don't know anything about any of that stuff. Maybe you should do something better with some of your computer abilities.
