Got a call from Comair today for an interview. I'm new to this regional airline stuff. I need help from the savy, experienced regional folks. I already have a class date at XJT. How do they compare to each other. The only thing I've heard about Comair is that they have a bunch of grumpy old men over there. I've also heard that things are stagnant. If so, why are they interviewing people? All advise is welcome. I have a feeling that the descion that I make will affect me for the rest of my carreer. Thanks to you all.

The only thing I've heard about Comair is that they have a bunch of grumpy old men over there.

If that's all you know about CMR, why would you even apply?

You might want to go to XJT. You seem to know all you need to know already.

Its what works best for you. Pay? QOL? Base? These are the things that you should look at. Just my 2 cents. Good luck in your decisions.

go to the interview and then decide. do more research. keep an open mind. unreliable scuttlebutt like that which you referred to is often just that!

Anybody have that file with both contracts side by side...thats a good read.

Well, if things are stagnant and their captains average age is, say, 45 and our captains average age is, say, 35, then based on retirements you should upgrade much faster at Comair. Only 15 years to the left seat at Comair. Looking at 25 years to left seat at XJET.

Advise for your carreer? Learn to spell first, then learn to fly.

Its great to be in a situation where you could have two options. I would say overall they are both good and bad so basically equal. I would make my decesion on where you live or where you want to live. Commuting vs. to being based where you lives makes a huge difference in QOL. The way the industry is now and how it changes overnight for the worse depending on what company you go to, i would go to the one that puts me closer to home or go to the one that offers you a class date 1st, then change companies if or when the other offers a class date. You wont know what decision was the right one until 5 or 10 years from now. Look at all the guys that went to UAL and DAL vs. going to FEDX or SWA. If you look at the thread about the W-2 posting you can see how lucky the FEDX and SWA guys are doing vs. the Furloughed guys who could have gone there instead.

I say wait to see if the Comair guys accept the growth-for-pay-freeze deal (not certain if it will happen). Clearly, if there is growth at Comair due to the addition of new aircraft, then it would be a more attractive place to go than currently with zero movement...
