Hola to all. I know the basic travel benefits for XJT, I am wondering specifically about non-rev travel on express jet. Do you still have to pay for non-rev travel even on Express Jet? Also how soon do you get travel benefits for your spouse?

Thanks……

Your spouse will get 2 round trip passes per month for the first 3 months of your employment, after that they are unlimited. You essentially have to wait till the hr ladies get all your pass privilege people put in your ja online before they can start, takes about a week or 2. BTW, ~12.50 one-way for the passes, comes to be about $30 roundtrip, which is counting the taxes. This is what I was told.

No, the $30 is the taxes your spouse, children, and parents must pay for their non-rev tickets, roundtrip. Commuting to work? You don't have to pay to commute. Just jumpseat, it's free, unlimited jumpseats(any seat on the plane) on all XJT flights, and you can jumpseat on CAL also, limited to the number of jumpseats available though.

i wanted to ask a question, if your wife wants to travel on CAL, does the same rule apply, does she only have to pay the taxes on that flight to go somewhere, and is that unlimited for her to go non-revenue on CAL with only paying the taxes

Only draw back here is that non-revs (with passes) will get cabin seats before a jumpseater will....when getting to work is essential that can bite you...plus my guess is it will not fall under the commuter clause (I am assuming XJT has one) if you do not have a pass. Am I wrong?

The way I understand it is if your wife is the travel companion, she can ride xjt, cal, and any codeshare partner, anywhere in the world, and only have to pay the taxes. And I'm pretty sure that is also true that as a jumpseater you don't fall under the commuter clause and are the lowest priority. Coming from a newbie, so take it for what it's worth.

A pilots wife/husband is not considered a travel companion when they are listed on your JA entry. A travel companion is a non-spouse person that you've designated on your JA entry. A listed spouse pays the pass fees but not the taxes. A travel companion pays the pass fees plus the taxes similar to someone using a Buddy Pass but with a lower pass fee and higher pass status.

If you're married you can either list your spouse or a travel companion, not both. You are authorized to change your travel companion once a year in Oct/Nov to be activated on the 1st of the year. You can deactivate your travel companion at anytime but you can't add a replacement until the next enrollment period.

Just for an example, my travel companion is traveling from MEM-IAH-DAL, roundtrip next weekend for $30 even. If we were married, it would cost her $25, roundtrip.
