XJT training questions

Hi all,

I have a few questions concerning training at XJT. What is acceptable attire? Other than the training manual, what else should I bring to training? Do I need to purchase all the appropriate low/hi charts and jepp plates that will be used during training or are those provided by the training center? Also, is your roommate your sim partner? How do you handle meals - fastfood vending, etc.? Any advice on how to successfully negotiate training (other than start studying now - that's a given) would be appreciated. Thanks.

I'll answer what I can,

Dress is business casual, ie khakis and a collared shirt. Jeans on fridays.
Food: there is a restaurant in the Holiday Inn where you will get free breakfast and can buy other meals, gets old pretty quick though! On the way to the training center is a few junk food places, walking distance from the hotel. For lunch during the week the training center brings in a caterer, about $5-6 for a meal, its different everyday, italian, barbeque etc. If you drive down there is everything you could want 5-10 minutes away.
The company will give you jepps, charts etc plus a bunch more books so just bring paper and pen, maybe flashcards etc if that works for your study habits.

Your roomate can be your sim buddy if you chose. Although they give you a choice about 2 days into training to pick your sim partner. My advice, unless your roomy is an obvious problem child go with them in the sim. It will pay off later as you will be on the same sim schedule, I would hate to have a 6am sim time and your roomy has 9pm and wakes you up at 3am when he gets back.

As far as what to do before ya get there, flows, memory items and limitations will save you time and allow you to hit the happy hours at the various hotels on the way back to the holiday inn!!!

You will need to bring your own binders for the Jepp charts, most people use 2 2" binders and 1 1inch binder. the enroute charts have there own folder when you get them.

There is a lady that sells breakfast tacos in the cafeteria around 10 am.You get 2 for $3, they are so good. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

Thanks. What about a headset? Should I bring mine? I just realized my headset isn't TSO'd for 121 ops. Does the EMB-145 come with headsets in the cabin that i could use?

You wont need a headset for groundschool, all the aircraft have DC 13.4s in them.
