From its first day as an IPO at about $15 a share to date has drawn out a perfect downward spiral to under $3. To bad for the great people who work there. Way to get on the 70/90 seat market James. Best luck in the upcoming years to all my former Co-workers at XJT. Its was a great experience.

So I take it the branded flying is not going so well?

Most of the airline sector was up around 4-6% today....except Big Sky which was down 3%.

Anyone know why airline stocks were up big today?

Does anyone have any better ideas of what to do with 69 50 seat jets? Currently 21 are flying for Delta, 2-4 for Frontier, 9 charter, 205 CAL, and about 37 for Branded. If your an invester you could say we should have given the planes back to CAL and done our best not to lose another 51 in 2 years. It's my feeling that if we gave the planes back our stock would still have tanked, we would have furloughed about 600 pilots and CAL would not have hesitated to cancel the whole CPA and take all the planes within a year. As a pilot for Expressjet I want to give managment a medal for not letting "operated by CHQ" be slapped on the airframes. I'm not saying they made their dicision based on not furloughing, but I really don't care. Because of their "terrible" dicision to keep the planes I was able to upgrade along with hundreds of other pilots. I know the future is very shaky for XJT, but those are the realities of the airline pilot profession. About every year the term "poor bastards" can be directed at a different pilot group. In recent memory TSA, MESA, Air Wis, Mesaba, ASA, Comair, I guess it's just our turn.

If I had to guess, oil was down, if you can call it that, to 94.62 /bbl for December delivery yesterday. And Saudi Arabia's oil minister left open the possibility that OPEC will agree to increase production when they meet next month.

The fat lady hasn't sung yet at XJT. There's still cash in the bank and over 75% of the flying is done at a guaranteed profit for mostly CAL and some for Delta. The branded venture just kicked off six months ago, it can take time to build markets. October's load factor was 59.something%, probably not enough to make a profit yet at these energy prices.

Oil is on the decline....relatively speeking.

What load factor do u guys need to break even? I mean, Horizon can barely, if at all, break even with a full 70-seat rj.

Here is Jim Ream addressing the break even point during an interview (azbiz.com).

Quote:
In the tough new economic environment of the airline industry, the difference between profit and loss can be close, Ream said.

"For our size aircraft, if we fill 35 seats (on a flight) then I’m taking a sack of money to the bank," Ream said. "But if we fill only 23 seats, then I’m taking an even bigger sack of money and turning it over to the people I owe for debt service."

Take this with a grain of salt, it was said before the most recent run-up in energy prices. I find it hard to believe Horizon can't make money with a full RJ, did that statement come from management people negotiating your next contract? By the way, how is it looking for the next Horizon contract?

Why are people so quick to criticize XJT? Saying poor pilots at XJT and lump us in with TSA, Mesa, ASA, Mesaba, Comair, etc... When were we asked to take concessions? Thats right, we werent. We did however sign an extension giving us nice pay bumps during the extension period. Last time I checked we still had the contract in the regionals to beat. People are using our contract as a benchmark. If, and thats a big if, Ream comes to us to ask for concessions(doubt its gonna happen and if it does he aint gettin ******************** from me) or they are impossed on us in bankruptcy, then and only then the rest of the industry can say poor XJT pilots. We are still on top and are fighting to stay that way. It is not our turn.

I should have made my statment a little more clear. I didn't mean to say that the pilots at XJT are losing money or work rules. I just meant that our stability is out the window. I don't think you can argue with that. 2 years ago we had 274 airplans flying for CAL with a 10% profit. XJT just got a huge dose of reality that the company hasn't seen since 9/11.

I hope things work out for you guys at XJET, lots of friends over there, and seemed like it was a good place to work.
