Continental Airlines Expands Service to Mexico City With Nonstop Flights From San Antonio and McAllen
Tuesday March 2, 2:02 pm ET

HOUSTON, March 2 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL - News) today announced that it will expand service to Mexico City with the inauguration of two new routes effective May 2, 2004.

Continental's regional carrier, Continental Express, will commence twice- daily nonstop service between San Antonio and Mexico City, and once-daily service between McAllen and Mexico City, pending government approval. The routes will be served with the extended-range version of Embraer's 50-passenger ERJ-145 aircraft.

"These Texas communities have strong business and cultural ties with Mexico City," said a Continental spokesperson. "The routes will succeed based on the convenience of the nonstop service as well as our ability to provide the right size aircraft for the flights."

Continental already provides extensive service to Mexico City from both Houston and its New York hub at Newark Liberty International Airport.

In addition, with Continental's recently signed codeshare agreement with AeroMexico to begin this month (pending government approval), the new flights will provide convenient connections for customers traveling beyond Mexico City.

Continental and Continental Express serve more Mexican business and leisure destinations than any other U.S. airline with more than 340 flights per week to 23 Mexican destinations. The airline recently announced major expansion of its Mexico service from George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, with the addition of four new Mexican destinations between April and June 2004 -- Monclova (April 4), Puebla (May 2), Oaxaca (June 10), and Toluca (June 10) -- bringing the number of Mexican destinations served by the airline to 27.

Continental Airlines is the world's seventh-largest airline with more than 2,300 daily departures to 126 domestic and 101 international destinations throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia. With 42,000 mainline employees, the airline has hubs serving New York, Houston, Cleveland and Guam, and carries approximately 51 million passengers per year. FORTUNE ranks Continental one of the 100 Best Companies to Work For in America, an honor it has earned for six consecutive years. FORTUNE also ranks Continental as the world's most admired airline on its 2004 list of Most Admired Global Companies. Continental has been named to Hispanic Magazine's list of "100 Best Companies for Hispanics" for seven consecutive years. For more company information, visit continental.com.
