XJT RSV question??

hey.... I know all the new hires are going to LAX,SAT,ONT... any idea how long reserve is out there before you can hold a line?? a friend of mine flies at mesa based outta phx and wont hold a line for a year, so he's thinking about coming over to express. I have no clue how long reserve is since im outta ewr and been off reserve for over a year. Any answers would be great!

First of all not everyone is being sent out to the west coast. I was sent to CLE (my last choice and one of the most senior bases). But my sim partner finished IOE about a week ago and he will have a relief line in ONT in July. The bid packet for July in LAX had no reserve lines and everyone had only 12 days off. Thats what I heard anyway. So to answer your question possibly no reserve at all on the west coast. 80 new hires a month for the rest of the year and that should continue into 08 seeing how short staffed we are right now.....

There are lots of 12 day off lines due to the new base and shortage etc.. but at the same time there are 17, 16, 15, etc.. days off as well. The new bases are the more junior bases for most for now.

Sure, it just depends on where the company needs you at the time.

Reserve? What reserve? In SAT there are 4, ya count em, 4 reserve lines in July for fo's. I wouldnt be surpised to see the older guys in class (more senior) go right into a line. If you were on reserve for more than a month I'd be surprised, at least in San Antone. We need more pilots for sure, its too hard to drop or trade days with the low to no reserve coverage... I digress.

Call them and ask, i know people who have been sent from other bases to go sit out west. Give it a shot all they can say is no.

The bid pack does not reflect all the people that are finally coming out of training. Trust me, in July, and really in August, there will be a lot more people of reserve then you will see. If they finish training after the lines are compiled, not the bid closing, then scheduling get to build the RSV lines to there choice for all the newbe's. LAX is the priorty right now, as they want to make Delta happy.

Ya thats my bad, I just saw the LAX lines today and you had a few with 15 & 16 days off. I was going by what I heard form a CA and not what was actually posted (I should know better than that). Looks like the LAX lines are better than the CLE lines for commuters.....

I didn't think there were commuters left in CLE. If I was still there I'd only be able to hold 12 days off and no way I'd get all commutable trips. I got 17 days off next month in SAT.
