Just a quick question, was wondering if anyone has any details on what questions (specifics would be nice) are asked by XJT when they call you for a brief phone interview??

Also, any ideas how long after sending in your resume (when called to ask for a faxed copy) should you expect to get a phone interview??

All help is much appreciated. Thanks.

I was asked about VMC and factors that effect it, When do you need a takeoff alternate, destination alternate, what is MSA, MVA, what clearances do they give you, what are accumulators? A lot of basic IFR ?'s and some multi-aerodynamics. I was called for the phone interview the same day I faxed in my resume.

How long was the conversation?? A LONG telephone interview or fairly short 5 min chat? And do they invite you at the end of the conversation or do they then send you a letter....or call you again to invite you??

They invite you at the end of the conversation. And, you cant prepare for specific questions, as they will change them.....anything is fair game. Just know the basics and you should be ok.

Faxing the resume??? I didn't know you were allowed to do it that way! I did the online thing 8 days ago and thought it ended there. I guess I'll go and fax my resume today and see if that helps.

It was after the online application that I was called and asked to fax my resume. After I faxed my resume I was then called for the phone interview. It lasted about 10 min and I'm sure will cover anything from basic aerodynamic(single and multi) to simple common knowledge IFR ?s. I was invited to the personal interview in Houston at the end of the phone interview.

CAJ,

For what its worth, it took a month from filling out the online app to finally get a phone call requesting my resume. Best of luck.

Did the phone interview today....very straight forward. Any failed checkrides? accidents? How many multi hours in the last 12 months? How many hours per month average? How much of your total time is actual instrument? What is an MEA and what does it provide? What does a grid MORA provide? What are the maximum holding speeds? Was offered an interview in early Nov.

Sent my resume and cover letter in yesterday and still no call, maybe I scared them off...I had the minimums they were asking for, but just barely. Could be just as well though, don't want to interview if they know they aren't going to hire me...

They should've provided a number when you were orginally asked to fax your resume. Call that number (it connects to Dawn) and leave a message just stating that you're verifying that they received the resume. She'll call you back usually the same day and complete the phone interview.

I know this is an old post but I just got back from Houston and they offered me the job. BE YOUR SELF!! The captains asked VERY simple IFR Q's and systems relating to your multi. Everyone at the training center was very professional, very outgoing and nice. I recieved the phone call to send in the resume about two weeks after the online app. Then after faxing the resume I heard the next day and they offered the interview after a couple of simple questions. How does the prop work? Holding airspeeds? I've read this before from the gouges and I belive it to be true now. They have already decided to hire you if you are there Do not give them a reason to send you home. Remember these are Line captains doing the interviews on their day off so they will test the waters to see if they can get along with you.

It really isn't about time, if they weren't going to hire people with that low of time then they wouldn't have lowered the mins to where they are. They are running a 98% pass rate in training right now. I was just hired yesterday and we were told they will hire a total of 600 pilots this year, and will hire another 600 pilots next year!! They are looking for team oriented people who are friendly and know that it takes everyone from ramp agents to mechanics to flight attendants to pilots to make the company successful. Also, if they asked you to fax your resume, they will call you back. They are very busy, yesterday they interviewed 19 people and I know of 10 that got hired. I was already taking my drug test while the last 6 interviewed. If you get an interview, read the gouges, study hard, and the job is yours. Stay positive and just be patient. Good Luck to all that apply, hope to see you on the line!

Just curious as to whether or not there is a minimum age to apply to XJT? Not quite 21 yet and didn't know if that was a requirement or not. Thanks!

Just sat through the company presentation with Dawn last Friday. The minimum age to apply with XJET is 18 yrs old. I remember this because she cracked a joke saying it would be legal for us to marry a cute flight attendant.

Had a call from Dawn last Thursday morning to send my resume in. Sent it Thursday afternoon..... its after 1700 central time on Monday and I still havent heard from them... Should I start worrying now or just sit back hand take my pulse??

Don't sweat it. From my experience, the only quick news is news of the unpleasant kind. Also, from my brief exposure to Ms. Daniel, a quick followup call isn't out of the question. She's busy, so I wouldn't ramble.......

I called and left a messege on her voicemail Friday making sure she recieved my resume. It seems that after reading other post in this subject that it is normally only a day or two between the request from them for a faxed resume and the time to phone interview.

I just dont know if they only call if they want to do a phone interview with you or if they will call and let you kn ow that your not what they are looking for. Surely they don't just leave you hanging.
Thanks to everyone.

Callback for Phone Interview

As much as it sucks, you just have to be patient. Dawn Daniels is extremely busy all week long. I had an interview on Oct 15th and I was in the XJET training facility from 0900 until 1730. The whole time Dawn was running around talking to applicants being the ring leader of the circus, and it was very organized, but definitely a circus. They were 19 total applicants that day, 13 in the morning and another 6 in the afternoon. They are all very busy and they will get back to you, just hang tight and be ready for the phone interview. There are a couple posts on this sight regarding ?'s to expect. Good Luck!
