Congratulations to all the Expressjet guys and gals. I hope this reduces a little of the uncertainty you've faced over there for the last year or so.

Welcome to the dysfunctional Delta family.

Nope - it hasn't been just as everybody said, sir.

EVERYBODY said it was SLC and we all know it. Then it was some other wacky city here and there . . . all those people who were making plans for SLC because they heard GS say it . . . wtf people obviously you were just pulling stuff out of your as.

The XJET flying is temporary as we all know that XJET is going the way ACA/Independence. The routes that XJET is getting out of LAX makes then zero money. It's just a band-aid to fool the employees but all is not well. It's a one year contract. The contract that XJET has with Delta doesn't come close to what the other carriers have. XJET management thinks that this will open the door to additonal flying in the future, but wrong!

Actually the SLC was an option. DL has been looking at SLC feed to Mexico for the hub. LAX has a larger O & D traffic base for feed to Mexico. SLC is not off the table yet. Delta will take on any regional that will provide good feed at a good price. I think just about every regional does something for DL. I would not be surprised if some SLC flying went to someone else other than Skywest in the not so distant future. Lots of talk in Network and Marketing at DL points in that direction. That could be XJT and it may not.

Who pissed in your corn puffs? You want a hug? :erm:

I dunno why you guys get so bent out of shape over the stuff you read on this forum. I get a kick out of it personally.

I can tell you it will not be ASA, but DAL has some big plans for the LAX base. You with see 777 out there in a few years.

Congrats to the XJT folks. It's refreshing to see that flying can be obtained without lowering the bar even further. Wether it's for one year or ten years, it doesn't matter, a point was made.

Dude, welcome to Delta, but step away from the light! While I share some of the good feelings that we're in a upswing right now, temper your big rumors with a dose of reality. The next few years will only bring 5 more 777's (a good thing, but hardly enough to make a push for Asia anywhere other then ATL - esp with the ultra long haul push out of ATL right now and these birds have already been converted to LR's). Maybe we'll get some more orders out of bankruptcy, but those are more then a few years away. Add a splash of the "Delta Way" in when it comes to LAX... hmmm, LAX is giving DAL a hard time about the leases so how do we get them to back off? Maybe create a psydo hub using RJ's to look like we're beefing up our operation ("if only the facilities were cheaper"), splash a few rumors about an international gateway, add a well timed "media" article about LAX losing international market share and poof, Mr. Judge agrees with DAL not LAX.

Like I said, I too agree good times are ahead at DAL, but the furloughed, displaced off 2 parked jets and displaced out of one closed base part of me isn't going to get remotely excited about it until I'm flying it.
