NEW YORK, Oct 17 (Reuters) - ExpressJet, which operates regional air services for Continental Airlines, on Tuesday said it was starting a unit to charter planes to businesses and other private entities.

The new unit, called ExpressJet Corporate Aviation, will begin operations in December, aiming to operate 10 EMB-145XR aircraft by May....

This should come as no surprise to anyone. The next announcement is the one everyone is waiting to hear.

So, Mr. SuperPilot92. Looks like I beat you to the punch on the screen name. But then, my name is in your logbook. So I've got that going for me.

How's life been treating you?

Sent you a PM.

It is in my logbook so someday when you get famous i can sell your signature!!

Superpilots,
It's funny looking at your join dates vs # of posts

Hey 92, is that your yr of birth, because that would explain a lot.

Not an attack, just an observation.

No the 92 is not my birthdate, pretty bad observation if you ask me. I had to put something at the end because the original Superpilot beat me to the name. Just an observation you arent the bigger guy!! Not an attack just an obsevation.

And biggerguy isn't quite the superlative biggestguy is. Superpilot on the otherhand is a bit brazen too.

..but what do I know, I fight with rakes!:pimp:

I shoot, strangle, poison and generally kill gone bad billionaire's and their henchmen.

Yeah , heard that one a while ago...it is nice to see how XJT has their hands in so many other things. I got a look at their paint shop in MMIO...very impressive!

Forgive me for my ignorance, but what announcement should be Nov. 8th?

Thats the million dollar question. (maybe literaly) If we already knew they wouldnt need to announce it.

That link shows their stock tanking. I hope they change that.

So it is. Apologies.

Nov 8th XJT announces they have won NWA RFP.
Nov 9th XJ announces liquidation.
Nov 10th XJT announces preferential hiring for 20 yr+ Avro Cpts.
Nov 11th CHQ blamed by everyone on flightinfo for ruining careers at XJ, not XJT.

As to November 8th, look to see the announcement of independent flying under our own logo, possibly out of Ontario and Raleigh Durham. Possible codeshare with an organization you guys never saw coming in a million years.;) (No, not Southwest)

Nope, it's an old one.

Never saw coming in a million years? Not so - every possible rumor has been spread on this board or in the crew room, so whatever happens was discussed by somebody somewhere.

I take that back, I haven't heard anybody say that we are opening a base on the moon. Maybe next week.

I agree with LJDRVR. We're not going to get any hits on our bids, so we'll try the experiment. At least 25 of the 69 will be operated by another airline, so it seems to be about 19 airframes that will be doing the branded flying (assuming 15 for charter work).

My math say's 29 ac for branded flying assuming no airline deals.

"XJT is now planning a base on the MOON" . You heard here first folks-stay tune!!!!!!

What do you think this will do to upgrade times if 25 are leaving the fleet?

They'll probably go up a bit, of course. BUT, senior peops are leaving b/c their daddies got them jobs at CAL or they did an internship and for Southwest, Alaska, etc. So, the 2 yr upgrade now will probably be 2.5 - 3 yrs, which is still not a bad deal...it cant hurt to have another yr of seasoning under one's belt. And, maybe we'll have success in the branded deal which might require additional aircraft of some kind. Who the heck knows....maybe maybe maybe....

Apache,

Plenty of senior XJT pilots are getting jobs at CAL without connections or internships.

-minrest

And plenty of interns not getting jobs at CAL at all...
