If I remember correctly they said somewhere around 400 or so new hires for 07 and 250 or so upgrades. Mostly or all due to attrition.

That's close. The Director of Flight Operations, George Semak, said a couple of days ago in his weekly voicemail that there will be 400 hires and 272 upgrades for 2007 as of right now. I believe for 2006 it was 600+ hires and 400+ upgrades. So, things won't expand quite so quickly, but still moving up nicely. It still looks like a safe place to be hired so far.

They said that was the numbers through July, so it may be more after that. But those numbers are true. 400+ newhires and 273 upgrades by july 07. Take it for its worth.

FYI, they have already hired more people in 2006 than they announced at the beginning of the year. I remember hearing that hiring would stop this summer, then this fall, then the end of the year. You get the picture.

If you look at it strictly though historical trends, I would say the 2007 number are conservative. However, the dynamics of next year may be different than in the past, so those numbers may be accurate.

It should also be pointed out that when the likes of UA/US/DL start hiring again early next year, as they have indicated, a lot of guys here will be leaving. Just like CAL, all those initial hires will be sons/daughters of senior pilots/management. There are plenty here who are well connected in that regard.

I had another question. Could someone PM me the name, job title, and address for the lady in charge of pilot hiring at ExpressJet. I know her first name is Amy and want to make sure I have the right spelling on her last name and an address. Thanks.

After applying, how long before they call you for an interview, and once called how far ahead will the interview date be?

It takes about 3 months from they time you apply untill they get back with you. If they offer you an interview it will be about 7-14 day window to interview on. Better start studying now.

Would you happen to know whether some folks get called a lot sooner than 3 months, like say a lot less than 2 months? Trying to make some decisions here.

Thanks.
