I don't know how true this is but I have heard it quite a few times so, I want to know if anyone else has heard this too. I heard from several different capt. that I have flown with and even one CHQ. F/O that was Jump seating on my flight that we may be looking at a merger btw XJT and CHQ. Anyone heard anything like this?

Yeah, I have heard that one. I have also heard that :
CHQ will buy Mesa
Mesa will buy AirWis
CHQ will buy AirWis
AirWis will buy XJT and then merge with CHQ
CHQ will buy ChicaExpress
Eagle will buy Delta Mainline
I-Air will merge with Mesa and buy Skywest
and the list goes on
BUT I do know that everyone will be flying for one big carrier in 15 years and that carrier will be none other then PanAm.

Holychit man! I just spit coffee all over myself! Please, no scary stories this early in the morning :(

Actually, this makes sense from a business perspective. Eliminate one of the 2 primary bottom feeders from existence and who's left for CAL to whore our flying out to in 2007? Mesa, I don't think so. If CAL would lower the quality of their product that much then their revenue premium will disappear. SKYW? Possible. CHQ is the most likely candidate to undercut XJT and steal flying from us so taking them out of the picture is a brilliant move.

Right on...

Dewey Oxberger certainly sounds like a much smarter name than that post.

Do you think management at CAL or XJT are concerned about bottomfeeding? Now _that's_ rich. They care about the bottom line - just like every other manager.

Any talk of any merger will be driven by one thing - and one thing only. CASH. Does XJT have the CASH to takeover CHQ? I seriously doubt it. Even with IPO and all the assets (blah blah blah). I don't really care to delve into the SEC filings and all the legalese, but if XJT was silly enough to buy up a whole bunch of RJET stock for the purpose of holding a majority stake in the company, well, there you go then. That stil wouldn't constitute a "merger" per se or anything having to do with pilots and seniority lists. And, I would be willing to bet that good 'ol Wexcorp probably wouldn't let their majority stake go without a fight.

All this talk of "poison pill" and takeover/merger business is just that. It certainly, from a management standpoint, has ZERO to do with "eliminating" a bottom feeder. I almost spit my coffee out laughing when I read that.

I can't believe I've wasted the energy replying to this. For what it's worth...Dewey, if yours was flamebait and not a true representation of your intelligence, you win - touche...if not, I'd say lay off the beer before you post.
