I know this topic is probably beaten to death, but I don't see how one could upgrade at XJT in 4 years if there's approx. 2900? pilots and there's about 500 being hired in the next year. What about after the major hiring. Wouldn't you have to be half way up the seniority list to be captain? Maybe there's other factors I don't know about.

Unfortunately, I fear you are right. Looks like less than a year until we're American Eagle. CAL apparently sold us down the river with another flow thru (lack of) so I hope new hires like the right seat. $45K 8th year pay isn't so bad, is it?

Somewhat true, although you don't take into consideration expansion. If the airline grows then that number comes down. Make sense? If you're thinking of going there I would. I have friends there and it's a great place to work. Many people have decided to make it a career airline.

If i were to be looking at a regional to go to i would suggest picking one you are happy working at with QOL. forget upgrade times, you could get stuck some place you dont want to be if the industry takes a sh+t. that has happened in the past so think QOL or you may be unhappy for a very long time. Thats just the way i look at it, although i know many would sell their soul in hopes of PIC time. there are no crystal balls and there are no definate upgrades anywhere. if you look at it that way you wont be disapointed and you can enjoy your life. i have found that you cannot incorporate a timeline into aviation, there are too many factors beyond your control.

Man who walk through airport xray machine sideways going to Bangkok.

Inspiring thought, that is why it hurts so often, oh then again it could be the cart donkey from the other night.

I know XJT has options for 100 more ERJ's after they take the rest of the ones on order. Anybody have any idea if XJT has any plans on pursuing the available options?

I was hired about 4 months ago and the numbers being tossed around in training were 3 to 4 years. Trying to predict what things will be like by then is insane. I could be furloughed or I could already have 1000 PIC (god help us) in 3 yrs, there are too many variables. I did hear that the pilots who were hired in early 2004 could be looking at a 2 yr upgrade, but that will undoubtedly slow as we reach the end of aircraft deliveries in 2006.

Not to be negative, but at this point you won't have 1,000 pic in 3 years. You'll be lucky to upgrade.

but you will have 1000 pic in 3 years? its good thing that you got yours. were all happy for you.

Listen jackoff, I was giving him some speculation on if he goes to XJT. My buddies tell me they are short staffed there on Captains, but even then those guys are only flying around 80 hours a month. If he is a new hire and it takes 2-3 years to upgrade it's not going to happen. Do the math.

Who said anything about me having 1,000 PIC?

Hey i flew with a captain who said that Ishould upgrade in a year at XJT with everyone floating through to continental airlines . I would think that there would be some different math involved there, pal.

Whats your point?

Well, now that the concessionary TA at CAL is out, if it passes I'd expect a lot of the people with rights to go to CAL to decline. There might not be much movement left at all after June. I hope this is not the case.

I'm aware. That's why I also said I could just as easily be furloughed in three years. Those are the extremes of what could happen.

Guess you didn't see that the TA included preferential interviews for Express. Go ahead and pass on your opportunity. I'll take the 9% pay decrease at CAL over the current pay at XJT any day.

Yes, but life as one of the most senior captains at ExpressJet isn't too bad. These guys are pulling close to 80g's (granted their 3rd or 4th year Pay at CO will pass that) and they can pick and choose when they want to work. The vast majority are going, just a handful of them will probably stay. Everyone I've flown with that could go, is going.

I know that everyones situation is different, but why the hell wouldn't you go!? Less work more pay bigger more cozy planes the list goes on QOL? I dont know I would have to go if i had the chance.... but i don't so F@CK me in the goat @$$!!!
